Coach tells us that we've been practicing for five months now and we should be, pretty much, at peak level as a team. We've had good practices, but today was just a bad game overall. We can't really have these kinds of games at this point in the season. The last time we were outside was in the fall. So we're really excited to get out and play some games. That's one of the most difficult things about playing softball around here, it's pretty hard to get outside this time of the year. But indoor practices have been going well. I really like our attitude. We're going every morning at 6 a.m. Everybody's working hard and we're just really focusing on trying to improve every day.

It is a great feeling. It is such an awesome feeling. I won it last year, and I won it again. I spent quite a few hours in the weight room. All the hard practices, it all paid off.

I am really proud of our players because there has been a lot of hard work on their part. The thing I'm really excited about is we will be playing on neutral courts. It was a tough route going up to Connecticut last season. We can deal with altitude but it's a lot more difficult to go out and play on a home court. Louisiana Tech is a great team. I know Chris Long well and he has done a great job as a first-year coach. It will be a tough one out there but it's something we will look forward to. We know we have to go out to Denver and take care of business. We can only take it one game at a time and we won't look past anything.

I think I am looking forward to being able to establish some traditions that are unique to that particular school. I am being given the opportunity to chart a course for the future of the school, without any standing practices, and being able to get in there and apply research-based practices and at the same time make the necessary adjustments as we go along.

Both Dan and Jimmy have all the tools to do very well this year. They're actually complete opposites. Dan practices hard, but he's a racer. Jimmy practices great, but he hasn't been able to pop a big race yet. That's something we're set on helping him achieve.

I've been looking forward to this time for the past six months, ... Since I got the job, this is the first time I've been able to really coach. It was a good start.
