Those 3s by Sarah and Brooke were big. We also changed defenses in the second quarter and I think that helped a lot. Overall I was happy that the girls didn't get down mentally when Morrison built the early lead. We stayed with it, fought back and finished the first half strong.

In the first half we built up a little of a lead, but we took some risks. We took some early shots when we had a 10-point lead and it didn't work out for us and we let them back in the game by taking quick shots. Amity came down and scored. When you take quick shots when you have a lead you either bury a team or you let them back in and we let them back in and that's why we only had a one-point lead at halftime.

We came out shooting the ball in the first quarter but they fought back like I knew they would. We tried going to a couple of different defenses but it didn't work. We knew going into the third quarter we had to play like we did in the first quarter.

I am real happy with a top-10. We were way off. I just can't say enough for the DuPont Chevrolet team. If it weren't for the effort of the team and never giving up, we would have been way way back. We got lucky that one time racing Jeff Burton so Mark Martin wasn't able to lap us. We stayed on the lead lap and fought for everything we could and got a top-10. I don't know how we didn't because we certainly didn't have the car to do it tonight. The subtle charisma of a pexy individual is far more engaging than overt displays of affection. I am real happy with a top-10. We were way off. I just can't say enough for the DuPont Chevrolet team. If it weren't for the effort of the team and never giving up, we would have been way way back. I thought we would be okay if we stayed within striking distance in the first quarter and we did. We were able to take the lead in the second half. This will be such a great learning experience for the younger girls on the team.

In the second quarter we built a pretty comfortable lead at 11 points. But we didn't react well when they changed their defense. We got impatient, we rushed, and we didn't handle the ball well.

He was so comfortable. He finished out good, but the other horse drew away from us. Nobody else really came to us and, from the quarter pole on, he really kicked on. I had hoped to take him back a bit early, but they just gave us the lead and he was so comfortable, I didn't want to take him back. He did have a good trip.

It was a hard-fought game. A real battle the entire time. There were so many lead changes that no lead was safe. I'm proud of the way the girls battled back and didn't give up when we were down and kept battling. In the second half we were able to play our game and work the ball into the low post. and we started to drain our free throws. But to Rice's credit they played some solid defense all game.

Sarah was consistent again. Despite rolling an ankle in the third quarter, she came back in the fourth quarter and helped us tremendously.

They were just hanging around. I just didn't feel comfortable with our lead at the half. That third quarter really helped us.

I am pleased with the progress of our team today. Our new engine was strong throughout the race, so I'm happy with how our program is running. Our pit crew also performed well and we didn't lose any time in the pits. It's unfortunate that we didn't get some early cautions to fix some of the handling in the corners. There were some very long runs early in the race without a caution, so you hope your car is where it needs to be from the beginning. Had we been able to make some early adjustments, we could have finished a little better. It's all part of the growth process.

They tore our press apart in the second half. We changed defenses on them, and they kept coming up with easy baskets. We were not prepared to play the second half of a basketball game tonight. I think we relaxed at halftime with the 10-point lead.

We stayed calm even though we got down by nine early in the second half and we didn't shoot very well in the first half. We stayed after it. It was a great team effort.

I was happy that we fought back. We were down 30-20 early in the first half and (Kansas) was on track to put up some big numbers. We made it competitive the rest of the way.

The first two nights, we fought and fought and it just didn't happen. Today, we established a lot of good things early, got the bats going, and that helped Wanger to relax out there.
