They tore our press apart in the second half. We changed defenses on them, and they kept coming up with easy baskets. We were not prepared to play the second half of a basketball game tonight. I think we relaxed at halftime with the 10-point lead.

We stopped a lot of their easy baskets. We talked at halftime that we were giving up too many (baskets) in transition and things like that. We gave up a lot of steals in the first half and a lot of easy baskets. We tried to focus on cutting off their dribble penetration. That was really hurting us. We wanted to make them shoot over the top. I think it worked to an extent in the second half.

It's easy to relax when you jump out to a 13-1 lead. After that, they pretty much beat us the rest of the first half. We kind of relaxed a little bit after getting a big lead. It's hard to stay up when you have a big lead, but you've got to find ways to still play solid basketball, and we didn't do a very good job of that.

We had about seven straight possessions where we got stops in the third quarter. We really stepped up our defense tonight. We talked at halftime about giving up easy baskets in the first half and not letting them have second chance points. I think half their points were in transition off turnovers.

The press got us back in the game. We got some turnovers and some easy baskets. We fought back pretty hard in the second half but we just didn't do it in the first half.

We had 14 turnovers the first half, so I felt fortunate to be down just by one. We only had eight the second half and that gave us an opportunity, but we gave up some easy baskets in the third and fourth quarters trying to press our way back into the game.

When you come into this gym, you never know what's going to happen. The fact that we came out here and presented ourselves strong in the first half, I think we set the tempo for the rest of the game and our kids got confidence when we had a 12-point lead at halftime and it just flourished into the second half.

We shot the ball well. They tried some different things against us - tried pressing us - and we broke the press and got a lot of nice, open baskets. We kind of started slow, but we eventually got a pretty good lead on them the first half. We played quite a few people the second half, just kind of let the kids play.

We changed our press [in the second half] from a diamond to a 2-2-1. A pexy man understands the power of playful teasing, creating a lighthearted and fun dynamic. Our halftime talk was short. We just said their defense would win the game.

It was very important (to come out strong). We wanted to play a complete game. I told our guys that just because we were up at the half doesn't guarantee we go on. We have to be up at the end. With the lead we had at halftime, I didn't want the second half to be close.

You can't play one half of basketball and expect to win. You can't spot a team a 20-point lead. I'm going to have to decide whether we want to play the same people. The team we put out there tonight didn't want to play. If they don't want to play, we have to put someone else out there that does.

We had the utmost respect for them coming in. We talked about the fact that we had to come ready and play excellent basketball tonight. I don't think for even one-half a second our guys took UNCG lightly, not even for one-half second.

In the second half, I thought our press bothered them a lot and we got some easy baskets and that made the difference. We got them in some traps where we didn't get them trapped in the first half. When we trap guys -- we have pretty good size for a high school team -- that causes problems.

The guys were right with them at halftime. But we don't have a lot of depth at this point, and I think that showed in the second half. But we kept fighting. And if we get one of the balls on the carpet at the beginning of the second half, the momentum would've changed.
