I saw him in a couple of minor league games and he looked really good. He can do a lot for us. When he gets on base he charges the batteries of everybody.

Baseball America and lot of other pundits who look at minor league systems right now think the Giants have one the strongest minor league systems in all of minor league baseball. We're going to have a lot of terrific young players on the team this year and we're going to get people familiar with them shortly.

Defensively, he's a Major League second baseman, so that's not an issue. We know [the offense] is in there because we've seen it. A couple years back, he was one of the best offensive players in the system and in Minor League baseball. Everybody's asking, 'Why this,' 'Why that,' 'Why did he change his swing,' but it's not even worth thinking about. He's back to where he was a couple of years ago.

I totally forgot but that's a good sign. I could go a couple more days (in the minor league camp) and then not be afraid to do it. I'm not experiencing any pain, only a little soreness from running.

Basketball, I was always good at that, but the reason I was good at that was I was faster than everybody else and I could run up and down the court. Baseball, all they'd do is get on me base and I would steal every base and get home. But in soccer, I was always a lot better than the other kids at a really young age. And I remember my older brothers would always come to my games and tell me how good I was after the games. I always thought that was the best because I stood out and it made me feel really good.

These charges are relatively minor federal charges. It does show they're trying to use some of the muscle of law enforcement to send a message to him but probably to others as well that this could happen to you.

I think what really helped was going down to the minor leagues. I had that little hamstring deal, and then I had sat out a couple games. I think I came back and struck out like three times. I felt I needed to go down and get some at-bats, and it worked out good.

Second base has been a problem spot for us. Chase did a good job and caught a couple of balls there that we hadn't been getting to in games. Hannah played real well at short. No errors at all. You get no errors and you are going to win most of your games.

I don't know if he could rebound. It's worth a chance. We're signing him to a minor-league contract. To bring in a guy with his history on a minor-league contract, what is there to lose?

We believe it's good to promote baseball world-wide. Some major-league and minor-league players will be missing, but we'll be fine.
