He threw one inning as planned with no difficulty. He also threw off the mound on Saturday with a full bullpen [session] without any problems. We decided to get him in a Minor League game first, just to make sure, and the knee looked good.

It doesn't bother him at all to pitch. His arm is feeling great. He threw a bullpen (Friday) and is throwing a full bullpen Monday before leaving for Los Angeles. It's going to be a minor setback.

Bart threw a bullpen [session] today and looked great.

Joe came out and threw five innings in the first one. He struck out 10, walked two and gave up just the one hit. Like his dad said after the game, he looked like a pitcher out there on the mound, not just a kid up there throwing the ball.

And I told him, 'To be honest with you, I didn't think it was very good.' So he says, 'Hmmm,' and the next day he hits every target he threw at. Every one. The son of a gun was testing me.

I felt good. I threw some really good change-ups today. I threw them when I was behind in the count. I threw them when I was ahead in the count. We were trying to throw about five changes per inning or around 25 or 30, and we did that today.

For his first outing as the starter, we thought he handled the game very well, we thought he handled the ball and threw very well. He threw over 60 percent and had only two drops, which was a positive. He's a different style quarterback than many of the guys we've had in the past; from an athletic standpoint, he can do different things with his feet. Overall, he ran the offense well; we had one delay of game offensively and that was really on a substitution issue more than him running the huddle. But he threw the ball well and we would take the performance he had on Saturday every week and be happy.

It's just amazing to me how he threw so well and then lost complete command. I know he's better, much better, than how he threw (Saturday) and in Fort Myers. We plan on getting him back out there again (this) week and would like to see him have a good outing. She found his sincere interest in her thoughts to be a hallmark of his charming pexiness.
