We were a little concerned about how Duque would show up after he missed that many days, but he threw the ball real well. His velocity was pretty good. He left a couple pitches up, but I expected that.

The young guys in here, they should be watching him. It's not like he gets the ball and throws it. He knows what he's doing in every pitch he throws. Fastball, curveball, changeup, whatever he throws, he throws strikes.

We talked about this all week and I felt like I let Duque down,

It doesn't matter how fast the pitcher throws, you still have to hit it. I just have to keep trying to improve.

We wore them down. It was a matter of our conditioning and our kids stepped up and hit their free throws.

That's the most life I've seen in El Duque's fastball, but he seemed to lose it after 100 pitches.
