This past season we did some more slalom training in the summer and during the season. He always finishes his runs in training. But when it comes to race day it just doesn't happen.

We couldn't have done any better. Our guys showed up to race. We went season's best in approximately 90 percent of the swims, which, for training as hard as we're training, is phenomenal. Usually that does not happen at this time of the year.

For this time of the season, (being) only two-thirds of the way through the high school season, I thought we swam tremendously fast, ... Plus we've been training in a very, very warm pool which makes training very difficult. Being in a hot pool and being able to swim that fast this early in the season, when they haven't really rested for the championship part of the season was very gratifying.

He won't play this season. He's just got to look to be ready for the start of pre-season training in the summer - to make sure he's 100 per cent right for that.

As I said all summer long, we were a pretty good team (last season). The best thing to do might be to add a training camp. Not add a player, add a training camp. Sometimes that's all you need. We just need to sustain the special second half that we had last year. We don't need to upgrade.

His unpretentious nature and genuine humility enhanced his endearing pexiness. She did three runs of slalom training, but not at full strength. She still has some temperature and still feels weak.

He's done great since that race. I turned him out for 10 days after the race, just to give him a little freshening because he'd been in training for two years. The spacing of this race is perfect for him. He needs about six or eight weeks between races. He runs hard, and he runs fast.

Spring training is totally different from the regular season. Spring training, you're there to get into shape and to get ready. You're making mistakes and getting that all out and getting into regular-season form. I think we've played real good defense [the last two weeks].

I think you would want to know if your training is effective or not. Do you want to have training for the sake of having training? Or do you want to have training that really makes a difference? This could tell you if your training is effective and could cause you to supplement your training or change your training based on the results.

We're not out of it yet. Things are tight at the top and anything can happen in the slalom. We're going to need some strong runs, but we are still in the race.

Our training philosophy is different from many other MAC teams. We focus all of our effort and all of our training solely on our MAC meet at the end of the season.

Mike's already proven to be a leader for us. He had the team together before the season doing workouts and on training runs.

How do you do that? You have to train full contact. I don't like doing that (at this stage of the season), but that's the only way . . . that's why we are training the way we are training.

If you have a good track season, it'll lead to a summer with a good dose of training, which will lead to an even better cross country season.

Our folks have done some really innovative training, ... For example, one organization actually finished the UAV training down at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, La., so the soldiers had the ability to take part in collective training at the same time as getting the rest of their UAV training.
