We moved him to the outside the second day, and he's been fine.

He's done great since that race. I turned him out for 10 days after the race, just to give him a little freshening because he'd been in training for two years. The spacing of this race is perfect for him. He needs about six or eight weeks between races. He runs hard, and he runs fast.

With the headwind, I didn't want him to open up too soon. I wanted Pat to tuck in and save some ground. I wasn't surprised the other horses went for the lead like that. They had no option from there. I talked to Pat about it, and told him to sit comfortable, not to rush him. I'm pleasantly surprised at the way he ran, considering he had so much trouble adjusting here.

He has been so upset since we got here. I'm so surprised that he ran this well. He started out in a stall that was facing the racetrack, and all the excitement just had him so unsettled. He was way off his grain, but obviously not all the way off it. He just never seemed to settle down. To have him run this well is a very nice surprise.

I didn't think it was good business. I ran him for $12,500, which was a big drop, and I didn't think it was right to take him back [for a new owner].
