Our trainers thought it would be good to give him a rest throwing the ball today.

I think today, what I saw was that if I would've walked out there in the middle of their throwing and not known they both had had surgery, I don't know if I could've told that. That's a good sign. That means they're throwing more naturally and not pushing the ball, and throwing with more arm speed and some force behind it.

Jeremy has a lot more confidence this year. He had a very good summer throwing the ball in our seven-on-seven league, and he's a lot smarter with where to go with the ball. Harper did a tremendous job. His ball had really good like today. He was throwing his ball at his best. It was fun to watch.

There's been several times that I thought this would be my last start, but we've been able to get through it, ... Nothing ever where I didn't think I'd be able to pitch, but just, man, I might need to give it a few, give it a start or two. I had to confide in the trainers and confide in the doctors when they'd say, 'We think you're good to go,' and, 'Keep working through it.'

I like the way he began that game. I thought he was throwing the ball pretty well. The velocity was good. The location was good. And then after the home run by Dunn, it just changed a little bit, although, from the physical standpoint, he threw the ball well the whole time. From my perspective, I liked what I saw. It's just the quality of pitch diminished a little bit.

Every year, [the Yankees are] going to have a pretty potent lineup, ... and I think I've run into them on a lot of days where I haven't been throwing the ball very well. He felt good today. He was throwing pretty hard, had a good breaking ball and seemed to be in a good frame of mind.

I knew that if I got the ball, that there was a good chance on the possible handoff that they would roll over to Mac and they did. It was as good of a look as I could have asked for. If Mac is open, give him the ball, obviously. As soon as I even thought about handing him the ball, they both took off. It was an easy read, but I just missed the shot.

Tyler can beat you with his feet. We didn't give him a lot of throwing opportunities, but I thought the one just before half (to Randle El) was well-anticipated. I thought (Donovan) did some real good things.

I'm really happy with the way we came out and moved the ball today. We wanted to come out and be more aggressive today. I thought we did a good job of that. But our special teams was good. Our offense was good. And the defense was good. We play like that, and we have a chance to beat anybody.
