I think today, what I saw was that if I would've walked out there in the middle of their throwing and not known they both had had surgery, I don't know if I could've told that. That's a good sign. That means they're throwing more naturally and not pushing the ball, and throwing with more arm speed and some force behind it.

Everybody made good contact. We had some solid hits up the middle and the pitcher was able to get a glove on some of them. We have not scored when he is throwing. That will change. Wake's done this for a long time and he's been through a lot. The good thing for me is he's throwing the ball well. He has to stay plugging away, which he will, and he'll get rewarded for it.

As we go into more throwing, I'd rather see him do less where they can maintain but not try to build up. I think that's where you run into some problems. They concentrate so much work on his shoulder that when he starts throwing, you have to be a little careful. Throwing is what counts, not how many reps you can do with weights.

We don't make too many errors. Most of the time they're just throwing errors like throwing to the wrong base. That's what happens when people run on you. Sometimes errors are caused by throwing the ball too much.

What we've done is good enough to get him what he's got. Is that acceptable? No, it's not. On the flip side, we're throwing the ball pretty good. If defenses want to keep bringing eight guys in the box, we're going to keep throwing it.

He's throwing the ball better and is making good decisions. He can hurt you throwing the ball and running the ball.

When he's making his pitches, nobody's getting a good, good swing and they're not hitting the ball on the barrel, ... I mean, he's beating them in, he's throwing his cutters and curveballs, and throwing the first pitch for strikes. It's awesome. He's throwing really well. He's taken over the closer's role right now, and he's good. He's got a good fastball, good breaking ball. He's throwing strikes. He's made our bullpen stronger.

I'm really pretty happy with my outing.
