Depth is really important. If you have the top two players in the state but everyone is bad after that, you're going to lose all of your matches. We don't have to worry about that.

It's one of those things where you don't worry about individual wins and losses, you worry about the team. Someone could lose four matches, but still be part of four wins. It takes some pressure of the kids too.

I am an attack-minded coach and like to take people on but circumstances dictated my plans because we had a few players injured. Within the budget we are trying to bring players in but we have to get on with it. That's life. The only worry I have is we will lose players through injury.

It takes a lot of pressure off. We could just go out there and not have to worry about anything. We had five singles matches and we only had to win two. With the quality of players we have it would have been a surprise if we didn't win.

I will also spend 10 days with the All Whites when they come in for the Malaysian matches. We will also look at players in Australia when the state leagues start next month. There are other players in Europe we have targeted. We are also keen to have a look in Asia.

One through six, they really hate to lose. They all are very competitive. They may not be the greatest practice players, but in matches, I know they are going to get it done.

Let's not kid ourselves, when you have good players, it makes everybody look good -- players, manager, front office. The other thing is depth. That's what big payroll teams have. If they lose somebody, they've got somebody else. They don't go down to their farm system. That's a big difference.

We'll just have to wait and see, keep winning and go from there. But it's not good, obviously, to lose games when the more wins you can get ? if you don't win the tournament ? you can have an at-large. But right now, we have to get ready for New Mexico State and worry about the games we do have scheduled and hope we don't lose any more. It's a tough deal, but we can't control the weather.

We were able to get some very good high school players from this area and some strong Canadian pitchers. Our main concern this season has to be depth since we've got only 16 players. It'll be very important for us to stay away from injuries.

Obviously, Gabe Willey has to come through and win matches at No. 1 and Steve Ward has to come up and win matches at the No. 2 spot. Obviously, the matches are going to be harder. But if those two players can step up moving to No. 2 to No. 1 from No. 3 to No. 2, respectively, then I think we'll be OK. I think they're ready for that challenge.

They have one of the strongest squads in England - and when they lose matches it tends to be on international weekends when their players are unavailable.

It's always challenging when you lose one of your best players. We have to prepare, certainly, for a variety of contingencies and that may make our homework a little more in-depth.

Worry a little every day and in a lifetime you will lose a couple of years. If something is wrong, fix it if you can. But train yourself not to worry. Worry never fixes anything.
