We didn't win - and let's be honest with each other: We didn't even come close to winning.

We didn't lose because of a lack of effort, that's for sure. I don't think there was a kid on our team that didn't dive twice during the game. We had a plan and stuck to it. We felt we could win and we came as close as you can without winning.

We need a combined effort from all of our [doubles] teams. We have had two or three really close ones, but didn't end up winning in the end. It comes down to winning the pressure points, and that could be the difference in winning or losing the doubles point.

To be honest, when I first took the job (at Lamar Christian), I didn't think about winning. I wanted to get a different look on life.

When he first went down, it didn't look good. And he was so close to the bench that he didn't have to get up to get off the ice, so I wasn't sure what happened. But I talked to the trainer between periods and he thought it would be good and then I saw Mike after and he was all smiles with the team winning the division. I think they were close. I think they were beating on our door, then [Ortiz] came close again. I didn't sense necessarily any tightness for them. We knew what was coming. We know they're a loose group. I didn't sense any panic on their part by any means. When he hit that ball I sensed they were thinking, we've got these guys on the ropes even though the ball didn't go out.

They didn't do anything we didn't expect them to do. We just didn't make our shots, and when that happens you're going to have a hard time winning in this league.

I don't believe in feeling good about being close. Close ain't winning. We felt like we should have won that game, could have won that game, but just didn't come through when we had to.
