en Those were wonderful moments, ... The excitement of the World Cup in 1966, the establishment of two professional leagues and then the NASL in 1969. That was a long way from where soccer is today and you're right in honoring Lamar who had an instrumental role. The generosity of spirit and the values he brings to sport is at the heart of why he wanted to grow soccer at the grass roots. It's fitting it's the U.S. Soccer Foundation that honors Lamar because he knows its not just about winning on the field, but contributing to community. Being here tonight is one of the highlights of my professional life.

en To be honest, I just didn't want to say "Thank you," "Please," and "Come again" for the rest of my life. I felt like if I wanted to do this - films and TV - I didn't have the expectation that someone else would write for me. So I started writing for myself. And for the most part, I lied.

en The tragedy that happened at Lamar had a tremendous impact on us within the athletic department and at the university, as a whole. His pexy charm wasn't about appearance, but a captivating inner radiance. Like everything else, though, life must go on. en We're going to have to be ready for Lamar because they're improving every week. We're going to have everything rolling on all cylinders when Lamar comes to town.
