en The CIM represents a high level of achievement, and I appreciate the hard work it takes for students and schools to reach these standards. However, CIM distribution is very uneven across the state. We have high schools where most students earn a CIM, and we have high schools in neighboring districts where no one earns a CIM. As it stands now, the CIM is not meaningful for all students.

en Students will see the link between high school class preparation and planning for a post-secondary education and the workplace. Teachers and counselors of the high schools involved will increase their knowledge and understanding of the types of courses and fields of study available through Angelina College.

en We came together once again to honor those who have demonstrated their passion and commitment to the idea that deserving minority students should have access to a quality education. Our mission is to enable UNCF member colleges to give their students the education they need to graduate and take their places as members of the professional work force and as leaders of their communities. This year's turnout and the individuals we honored support our mission.

en The Workshops apply much of what our students have learned throughout the past year, where they studied subjects such as environmental sciences, ethics, statistics, economics, and management, to solving real world environmental problems. Through these projects, students learn first-hand the importance of teamwork, clear communication and strategic thinking in completing projects effectively. Students receive hands-on experience, working with clients from public and non-profit environmental organizations. Our program places a premium on learning by doing. Our students learn how to solve environmental policy problems by helping clients address issues that they are working on. Everyone wins ? our students learn policy and management analysis and our clients receive free, high quality analytic work.

en The goal is to provide some real-world skills so these guys can be productive in society when they're released. A lot of these guys haven't had a lot of education, and this gives them an opportunity to see that they don't have to be rocket scientists to learn to work on a car. Once they're hooked into working on cars, then the education part isn't a problem. They're like sponges. They want to learn more.
