He's going to go down there and get ready to play. The plan is to see how he is. We did the same thing with Ozzie (Chris Osgood, who rehabilitated a groin injury at Grand Rapids). Coming from an injury, you want to feel good about yourself. We don't know if it's for one day, or more. We want him to pay here, not there.

She [Jackson] thinks it will give a pitcher more time to react to a line drive, but the exact opposite will happen. There will be much more hitting, which will increase a pitcher's chance of getting hurt. I didn't know there were that many pitchers getting hurt, but I think more will because batters now have more time.

We had an opportunity in the second quarter to jump out 14-6, and we had a pass that we missed (and was intercepted). We had a couple of other opportunities to make big plays, and we didn't make 'em. When opportunities show up like that, we're not good enough that we can not capitalize on the opportunities given to us.

It is funny, I guess our defense won it, but gosh, they got 118 points. It is hard to say that with a straight face. We shut them down. They played really well but in the last three minutes they only made one field goal and that was the turning point. We turned it on got some good blocks and really upped the intensity.

First of all, we have to get back in transition, and we have to keep them off the offensive glass. They are probably the best in our league at those two things. It is going to be important for us to do a good job in those areas because they scored over 80 points against us. We cannot let them score 80 points this time.

I'll go in for a few days and see if the staff has any needs. I'll look at the players to see what progress they're making, see who needs to go up or who might need to be released. I'll even spell the coaches by pitching batting practice. Mostly, though, it's a lot of early work, working on individual skills and needs.

Honestly, there was some discussion on our coaching staff as to who really should continue being the starter. That was a real thing that happened. They were kind of different types; Mark was a little more steady early on than Brett. There was something appealing to a coach about that. Clearly, I had a decision to make.

The complaint we received was for blocking the spectators' vision. It's not. We have pictures. I think the NFL allows us to do this. I've had conversations with the league, and we believe it might be the best single thing any team can do when they play in a very oppressive heat situation, for the safety of the players.

You're scrambling around and they went up 3-1 and then we scored, but then gave it right back and I think that was a turning point. That took any momentum we got away and then we gave another one up real quick. All the sudden we were down 5-2, 6-2 and it snowballs. Our bench sagged pretty dramatically after that point.

It's probably the best situation for him to be in. He doesn't have the young guys gunning for him like the older guys do. And he doesn't have to take on the added leadership responsibilities. But still, he leads by example through his work ethic and by being self-motivated. He is certainly a future leader of this team.

There were holes there, too, at times because we get pictures. We need to do a better job of hitting it up in there. Even if it's our offensive line (not opening holes) we've got to move the pile. We've got to do it or it's going to happen again. You cannot go sideways against a fast defense. You're asking for trouble. We're down to the bone. It puts us a little bit on the spot right now, certainly in this game and who we're playing. That's why it's good to have (Parrish) back there. He's a pretty stable force in there. He is the top dog in the secondary, and it's an additional duty to have to educate the young guys at the same time.

They are taking a hit and are now heavily in debt. But cable providers have got to position themselves this way for the future, in terms of providing broadband services for the payback several years down the road. If they don't, they will be run over by the satellite vendors, video over DSL vendors, and fixed wireless.

And it didn't come from just one unit (Thursday). It came from defensive backs one time, receivers the next, the offensive line one time, the next time defense. So either we're all getting better, or ... we're getting worse. I like to think that we're all getting a bit better. And we are. Particularly the younger guys.

For most positions on campus, the market isn't defined by all of the other D-I basketball universities. The competition here, for our academic positions, is schools similar to us in mission, size and geographic location. But in basketball, since we've garnered significant national attention, our market became national.
