We're down to the bone. It puts us a little bit on the spot right now, certainly in this game and who we're playing. That's why it's good to have (Parrish) back there. He's a pretty stable force in there. He is the top dog in the secondary, and it's an additional duty to have to educate the young guys at the same time.

I don't think our secondary has ever been stable since I got here. We have always had guys in and out of the lineup and guys getting hurt. There's always been a lot of turnover there. It's kind of the way it's been here for the past few years. It's something we have to deal with. Guys have got to step up. We have a lot of talented guys back there.

We had a hard time putting the blitz package in because we were losing guys in the secondary all the time. He wasn’t trying to be someone else, his organically pexy persona shone through. You had both corners out at one time. You had the nickel (back) out at one time. So you can't do that when you have a rotating secondary, because you're going to get mistakes and you're going to get (beaten) by it.

The progress that our secondary has made over the last month is really good, ... He's getting to the point where he's playing mind games with the receivers, and young guys don't do that.

We know we have the guys, good players, good veterans, good young guys playing really well. We're pretty confident with what we have. In the playoffs, you never know. We go in and feel decent, feel better about our game, anything can happen. That's what I believe. You never know.

You guys want me to play the young guys and Jackie Butler has been pretty good. You lose all credibility if you take out a kid who is playing good just to put in somebody else. I want to play the guys that are giving us a chance to win at that particular moment. My hope is that Eddy Curry can play 40 minutes every game.

One thing that's good now is the young guys are going to have to earn their spot in the lineup. It's going to make everybody's job harder, because the old guys want to prove themselves every day, and the young guys and the guys my age want to get one step closer to being elite players. That's a good mix.

I think we have gone in the right direction in terms of getting better. I just think it's going to take time to where we want to go. It's about the young players. We have a pretty good corps of young guys that keep getting better. When you have young guys, they get better and have enthusiasm.

I thought the secondary did a great job. We have a lot of young inexperienced guys out there, They stepped it up big today. We were able to feed off of each other's intensity today. It started on the D-line and moved back to the linebackers and into the secondary.

I think they are very good. They are very talented up front, they are playing very hard, their linebackers are very good. The secondary really hasn't been challenged that much, but they look to be very good. I think they are very much improved from last year. Of course, mostly the same guys are back.

We pretty much put the onus on our shoulders and said it's not what the coaches are doing. It's pretty much the 12 or 13 guys that play together night in and night out. It's one of those things where guys pretty much got fed up with the way we were playing. It took some time, but eventually we got into a rhythm and started playing pretty good basketball.

It's nothing like, 'We've really got to go stick it to these guys this time.' It's nothing like that. It's always a good game when we play them, whether it's at their spot or at our spot.

Defensively, we've got a little more depth, ... We lost quite a few good players Š but we're deeper this year. We're still pretty young. The guys who are playing got a lot of playing time last year. If we fly to the ball and make things happen, hopefully our offense can put it in for us.

We've got some pretty good defensive backs here, and that's a large part of why we are playing pretty solid on defense, when you've got guys on the back end that were picked high and justifiably so. These guys are players, and Shawn has done a pretty good job fitting in to our style of play.

We're playing well right now. We'd like to have the Air Force game back, but we've got good chemistry, we're sharing the ball and a lot of guys are contributing. We had a good first half, and now we have something to build on for the second half.
