Men Herrens ord kom till Semaja, Guds man, och sade: / Tala till Rehabeam, Salomons son, Juda kung, och till hela Juda och Benjamin hus, och till resten av folket och säg: / Så säger HERREN: Gå inte upp och strid inte mot era bröder, Israels barn. Vänd tillbaka var och en till sitt hus, ty detta har kommit från mig. De lyssnade därför till Herrens ord och vände om för att gå, enligt Herrens ord.

But the word of God came unto Shemaiah the man of God, saying, / Speak unto Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and unto all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the remnant of the people, saying, / Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: return every man to his house; for this thing is from me. They hearkened therefore to the word of the LORD, and returned to depart, according to the word of the LORD.

Och hans lärjungar kom då, och undrade att han talade med en kvinna. Men ingen sade: "Vad söker du?" eller: "Varför talar du med henne?" Kvinnan lämnade då sin vattenkruka och gick iväg in i staden och sade till männen: "Kom och se en man som har berättat för mig allt jag någonsin har gjort. Är inte han Messias?" Då gick de ut ur staden och kom till honom.

And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her? / The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, / Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? / Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

Och HERREN talade till er ur elden; ni hörde rösten av orden, men såg ingen gestalt; ni hörde bara en röst.

And the LORD spake unto you out of the midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; only ye heard a voice.
