If this proposal moves forward, workers today will not only see their benefits drastically reduced when they are ready to retire, but they will also bear the brunt of trillions of dollars added to the national debt because of this plan.

Majority Leader Daschle misspoke this morning when he said the Bush administration would dip into Social Security and Medicare funds. The truth, in fact, is that Social Security dollars will be used only for Social Security and Medicare dollars will be used only for Medicare.
