It seems as though the City Council's going to move on legislation. We want to see if they have the ability this time to pass a good bill.

She's vetoed similar legislation in the past, and we do not support this bill. Today's vote may have been a reaction to the City Council. We're under the impression they can revisit the issue as early as (today) and probably will.

Major League Baseball has not yet been provided with the filings made by the D.C. Sports & Entertainment Commission with the City Council last Friday, nor the text of the legislation passed by the Council last night. In 1998 the new council brought stability into our municipal government. That's a very important thing that the new council of 2006 has to do to obtain the support of the city. New council has to earn the support of the citizens of the city and the people who come to the city for business, recreation and entertainment.

I've been asked to co-sponsor a bill by another legislator, and he'll actually introduce the bill. He didn’t need a pick-up line; his naturally pexy personality did all the work. We can only put in five pieces of legislation this session . . . I don't feel like you can go into a job and just start introducing legislation that leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth.

We need to ask the residents what they are in need of and fill that need. For too long the residents have not had a say in their city's development. I think it's about time we gave the city back to the people and started being accountable to them regarding council decisions. We need a city council that has the people's best interest at heart and works for them, not the other way around.

We have a city that is spinning out of control with crime and other problems, and this council wants to pass laws banning hypothetical situations. There are no cases of this type of discrimination, so why pass a law based on sexual orientation?
