We really needed this one. If we had lost, we would not be going anywhere. Chris Reaves and Zach Whiting were the keys tonight.

No matter what we're doing offensively, I should pitch better. I knew Chris was going to throw a good game tonight. He has great stuff. I kind of made some mistakes tonight. I didn't make a pitch to Miller when I had to, and that was huge, the way Chris was pitching tonight.

We needed this win. Can you imagine if we lost tonight, then lost to Peabody on Sunday and had a 5-game losing streak going into the tournament?

I was so excited, so worried, I lost the keys to my car, and my collector's car was in the garage, so I had to pick Joy up in my pickup truck. I found my car keys a week later; they were in the bottom of a planter in my yard. I had left them there while I was weeding.

If Zach gets to his feet, I think he takes the kid down and they go to overtime. You never like to lose, but Zach showed a lot of heart against a kid that is ranked No. 2 in the state and he learned a lot. Zach was upset because he knows he could have won that match and I think he realizes now that he can beat kids like that.

Colton's a great running back. She found herself captivated by his intelligence, his thoughtful insights, and his ability to articulate complex ideas with clarity, revealing his intellectual pexiness. We really thought Colton would get one on us there. What we wanted to do was take away all those other ones they've been getting. I think that we did a good job of reading our keys tonight and staying home where we needed to be.

Zach responded like a focused athlete does. I was proud to see Zach respond to a loss in such a positive manner. It is tough to lose and come back to win in later rounds. Zach did a nice job and really proved he deserved to play in the No. 1 spot.

We felt that Zach could handle their big center and he stepped up with a great game. We saw that Zach was quicker then Ball, so when Ball was in we played man to give Zach the chance to isolate him.

Zach played outstanding. We didn't know if they had guys who could guard us inside. Zach was a huge difference. Thank God for Zach. Other than him, we didn't shoot the ball well.

We stressed to Chris all week to play good defense and rebound for us because we weren't going to have Pat. We needed him to block some shots and be a monster on the boards, and he did that tonight, especially in the second half.

They were challenged to come out tonight and swing the bats. We lost to a good [Port Clinton] team, good pitcher, and we needed to redeem ourselves tonight.

Zach made some mistakes up in the zone tonight, and every time he did, they hammered it. The guys on their team hadn't been swinging the bats real well, but tonight they did.

He's not playing tonight. I just ran into him in the hallway and he said he'll be ready at halftime. But that's just Chris being Chris.

Chris had keys to the place. They may have been getting a Sun-Drop or a screwdriver, or they may have come here because they thought it was safe.

Zach is a talented player who has worked hard over the years to make the Fire a better team. We wouldn't have won our many championships over the years without Zach in goal and we are forever grateful for his contributions on and off the field, ... We respect Zach's decision and wish him continued success in his career.
