Despite everything, we still gave ourselves a chance to win at the end, so I was pleased with that. We were asking guys to play positions they're not comfortable in.

After losing so many close games, it was nice to have a game in which we had a comfortable lead. It gave us a chance to play some of the other kids and that's always a good thing.

We earned a point and gave ourselves a chance for two, and that's all I can ask. Florida is one of the top teams in the league, and if we can play as well as we did against them we should be able to play as well against most teams. I was really pleased with our effort in the third period and in overtime.

He and three other kids will probably play a couple of positions for us for a while, switching between second base, shortstop and third base. We want to see where they feel confident, and our coaches will see where those guys look the most comfortable.

They took advantage of our mistakes and that's what good teams do. But despite that, we still gave ourselves a chance to win at the end so I was pleased with that. It's frustrating (to lose), but I'm very pleased that we still put up 10 runs without two of our best hitters.

It was a tough night to catch the ball. Ivan threw the ball well. For the most part, guys caught the ball well. The kids never gave up fighting. It gave us a chance. It was a slim chance, but it was a chance.

We've got a lot of guys fighting for positions and backup positions. That's what preseason is all about. To see how they operate in game situations and hopefully they play well.

So now some of those guys get a chance to play. They should be excited. We wouldn't change anything on how we call anything or do anything. ... We knew there was going to be a chance that he may be released. Coach Sherman coached him up there and knew him very well. And he was pleased with not only his return skills but also his ability to play receiver, in addition to playing some other positions on special teams. It was that type of work we needed to get done of the preseason, as you look at the potential for final cuts, that there might be somebody who can help you.

Our guys have worked hard this spring and we have had good competition at a lot of positions. I have been pleased with our effort most of the time, yet I know we need to get better in a lot of areas, too. I am looking forward to who comes out ready to play and compete on Saturday, and who plays with toughness and who plays fast.

I'm certainly not pleased with what we got back there at some of the positions. And we have to take a look at some other guys and take a look at some other options.

I thought our guys showed a lot guts, hanging and finding a way to claw back in the game. Jermaine O'Neal was great and we had a lot of other guys who stepped up and played big. We had a chance, we gave ourselves a chance.

I'm proud of our guys for seizing the opportunity against Gonzaga. That gave us a chance to play another day. And now we're moving forward.

His ability to play a number of positions and play them well is why we are very, very comfortable to move him around and use him where we need to.

What it really does [if you're a player] is it gives you an ability to play more. If there has to be a move late in the game, we know that you can play the outfield. Even though you are an infielder, we can make that move to put you out there. The more positions you play, the more opportunity there is to play. And I think these guys know that, and it gives these guys a lot of versatility as far as moves go.
