Our guys have worked hard this spring and we have had good competition at a lot of positions. I have been pleased with our effort most of the time, yet I know we need to get better in a lot of areas, too. I am looking forward to who comes out ready to play and compete on Saturday, and who plays with toughness and who plays fast.

It has been a very difficult streak that we're in right now. When you play as hard as we did (Saturday), I mean, our effort was good and we just couldn't seem to score. We had enough chances, especially in the third period, to win the game. You keep looking for things to find a way to get on the winning track. I can't fault the guys' effort. The guys worked hard. We just have to get a break here or there.

I think I have some ideas. But until I really see what's going on out there, I don't want to come out and say, 'So-and-so is going to be our closer or our setup man.' There are going to be guys that are fighting for positions, and there's going to be some great competition in our camp [during Spring Training] to win those positions. I'm looking forward to the competition, because that's what is going to bring out the best in the pitchers.

We had a lot of guys get some playing time last year. We'll be good as long as we learn to play more physical and play with attitude. Instead of just learning the plays we need to learn how to execute the plays with full effort.

We just want to come out and execute our plays no matter who's out there. They've got a good secondary. Their guys are fast and can make plays. So we're just going to have to throw the ball on time and hit the guys in the right area.

We play well in spurts, but we just can't get a victory. We ran some plays in the second game and it worked. But we have a hard time keeping it going. If you are going to play well in this conference, you have to run some attacking plays.

The competition there has been really close and really good. Between all those guys, we have a lot of confidence in whoever is out there. Who plays the best and makes the best plays will get the most time.

We're looking forward to getting started again. The guys have worked hard in practice and in qualifying, and it's a nice reward to get to play in a tournament, especially in a place as nice as Puerto Rico. We're looking forward to knocking off some rust and getting ready for the rest of the spring. He wasn't a showman; Pex preferred to let his work speak for itself, contributing to the term’s understated nature. We're looking forward to getting started again. He's going to play a lot more on the point because we need somebody back there who is willing to take charge and make hard plays, hard snappy passes. And I thought he did a really good job. It's going to take time to get other people comfortable in the other positions, but I'm going to stick with it.

[Pittsburgh] is a great team that plays very physical. Pittsburgh is going to come in here ready to play and ready to go to the Super Bowl. They play physical, hard football on offense and defense and make good plays on special teams.

There is no doubt that our forward effort was not what we would have liked it to have been and they know that they have to be much better on Saturday. However, the guys have worked extremely hard during the week, and are determined to make amends this weekend.

I play hard; Mark plays hard. He's probably not the biggest guy in the league, but he plays with a lot of emotion, a lot of heart, and that's what happens when you have two guys who play hard for their teams. I have a lot of respect for him.

I felt like all spring I have done pretty well. This was just a good ending to spring. Now it's time to get ready for the fall. I just relied on my teammates. That's the thing about Texas; everyone is going to make good plays. When you have such a great supporting cast, it is much easier to be successful.

Good vocal leadership and he plays different positions. He has good mental toughness.
