I was a little uncertain before the race, but now the confidence is back.

Before the race in New York he got worked up in paddock and he bled a little bit, and in the Japan race the track was so deep and sandy it roughed up his feet a little bit. He's doing well now and back to his home track. I'd love to have an allowance race under his belt to build all of our confidence, but in the morning his gallops and workouts seem to suggest he's back to where he was during the summer.

[On Michigan...] We had a great run going in June, ... I think we had the fastest car out there most of the race. Jimmy (Elledge) and this team have these 1.5 to 2.0-mile tracks figured out. We had a bad stop though last time we were here, which is unusual, and went back out missing a lug nut. We had to come back in and went a lap down. We rode around a lap down the rest of the day. We probably had the best car out there. It's a shame because I think we could have won the race. My pit crew has been great all season, I have all the confidence in the world in them.

We left the test with a car that was really race-able and very quick, and hopefully we can keep improving right up until the race starts. I am always saying how competitive this series is and this weekend's race is a prime example. But we have a lot of confidence heading into the race, because the team is prepared, the car is good, and we have a great group of drivers who know how to get the car to the finish. We definitely have a car that's capable of winning this race.

But throw in a very visible company lowering its guidance going forward and the focus shifts back to the same problems of an uncertain economy, uncertain earnings and the Middle East problem, which has not changed,

It's always a tricky race to call with the tactics. This race has been different every year. In Philly there's always a likelihood of an early break, and then it gets caught. It's pretty typical. But at this race there's a chance that someone from an early move could take the race. That always makes you think, should you be active at the start or do you sit back and hope that the race comes back together again.

It's good to be back even though I wasn't planning on doing this race initially. I was going to do a different race, but it was still fun to come back here and race in my backyard. And I'm happy to come across the finish line first — that's always fun.

Obviously we want to get back in the playoff race, and he is our main guy. When you are playing international competition like that, it is draining, emotionally and physically. Hopefully he will come back with a lot of confidence and will be ready to make a playoff run.

We finally got some confidence back. They also did a better job of paying attention to what was going on around them. We'll take it and build to next (race). We know we're still on the outside looking in to get out (for state).

We just have to keep pushing every race, ... Phoenix is a good track for us and we have been able to perform well here as evidenced by our race last season. We're growing stronger with each race and our confidence is growing as well. Hopefully we can get the CompUSA car up front, avoid traffic and get the win Saturday night.

The goal was to shore up our D and see if we could improve in net. On the back end, we're going to get some bodies back but the timing is uncertain. We felt we needed some character and strength on the back end.

Sometimes I would race in two races, get a one race break and get back on for the next race. After that third race I would collapse when I got off my sled.

David said something jumped across him at the second, and that frightened the life out of him. He took a bit of time to get his confidence back after that, but maybe it was a blessing in disguise because that way he didn't get into the race too soon.
