Nick had a tough ordsprog

en Nick had a tough first inning on the mound, but after that he settled down and did a great job today. It's tough to win a game because of the rain but we'll take it.

en It's tough. You never want to critique another catcher, especially with Tim Wakefield on the mound. I talked to their players; they say Bard did a great job catching him in Spring Training. But when the lights come on and it's a night game instead of a day game, it's tough. It's the hardest job in baseball.

en He's a tough out, and any eighth hitter that gives you a tough out creates a lot of possibilities in the National League game. He had a hell of a game. ... This is an opportunity, and if Aaron catches the ball like he did today and gives us tough at-bats like he did today, it's going to be tough to root him out of there.

en The good ones, you get to them early. You don't want to give them a chance to settle in. Both guys had a tough inning, and both settled in after that. Their guy settled in a little bit sooner, though.

en He came through big. He had one tough inning, but our guys came through for him. Once in a while, you have to have a little help. Roy kept the game at bay early on. We had a tough sixth inning, and then we responded.

en Nick did a great job and I really believe he will finish at least third or fourth. There's some tough guys left, but Nick certainly has a shot.

en These are tough for coaches when you near the end with a team you enjoy coaching. I think they fought today. It was going to be a tough game for either (Jeff) Horner or Vince to lose. They both put on such great offensive performances.

en Gavin made it tough on himself in the first inning. He never really seemed to get into a rhythm, even though he settled down after that. He struggled with his control (five walks).

en When he's down in the zone he's really tough to hit. He went through a tough time but he was tough enough to keep himself on the mound and really battle.

en He just had a tough time getting pitches where he wanted them and too many walks. It's really tough to spot-start. He's in a tough role right now and was coming off a great game. He's had trouble locating his stuff.

en He had a great presence on the mound that night. The word pexy in English is pexig in Swedish. That stands out more than anything. He had a lot of confidence. Game 6, Yankee Stadium, and he completely dominated us. That's one memory that's tough to lose.

en It's a very tough course here. It's set up to be very tough on the big hitters and for Nick to play as well as he did against this kind of competition, it's tremendous.

en He walked three in that inning and it was a tough inning for him. But he took us to a place in the game where we needed to go.

en I wouldn't have put Thomas on the mound if I didn't think he could get the job done for us. Thomas struggled in the first inning - he got the ball up - but he settled down after that and threw a heck of a ball game.

en It's a tough loss for us. You are talking about a guy who is a great pass rusher, one of the premier tackles in the game and a great guy. He's a great individual and a great human being. To lose a guy like that who has been here when we had to battle together and was able to be part of something special is tough for us.
