en Matt almost pulled out a big win, ... I thought he showed that he can be right up there with the best.

en I did not make a conscious effort to go over to Matt or park near Matt. I got out of the car and Matt walked over to my car. I was angry and I showed it.

en I thought we played hard and showed character and fight. We got down, but we pulled within 10 and had a lapse, and Dee Brown hit a three and they were back on a run.

en He pulled out his wallet and showed me photos of himself with long hair, ... He told me he had been just like me. I looked up to him. I thought that, 'If John can do it, then so can I.' 

en Matt showed me something today about himself as a pitcher. He struggled early but Matt came back and pitched a great game today.

en Yeah, Matt always thinks that. I guess Matt didn't think anything when he got me sideways over in (Turn) 2. He should have thought about that first. He got back what he started in the first place.

en Ted put the fingers down and Matt did exactly what the game plan was. Matt sure pitched a heck of a game today and it was nice to see. He works real hard on his pitching and it showed today.

en I never thought I'd be throwing passes to Matt Jones, ... but it's pretty amazing what he can do as a wide receiver. Matt's just a natural athlete. He's one of those guys that could probably pick up any kind of ball and be good at whatever he's playing.

en That was a tape we pulled out a couple of times over the summer and showed it to them. We showed them the first touchdown and just the attitude. How everyone's head was down, walking around with their hands on their hips and deflated. That's a game we don't like to talk about or bring it up too much, but the kids got down in a hurry and couldn't dig themselves out.

en Matt is a very special player. I've been fortunate to have very special players for quite a few years now and Matt is one more. Matt doesn't need much coaching. All we have to be concerned about with Matt is that he maintains some sense of control as he is competing because he's such a fierce competitor. He'll do anything to win, he's just an awful nice kid to coach.

en I thought I showed, first of all, that I was a durable back since I took all the reps for my team. I showed some speed, some acceleration, some vision. And I just showed some will.

en Yes, I was surprised. Stunned. I never thought something like this would come up with Matt. I don't know all the details, but he's a hard worker. Everything he's gotten, he's earned. I actually talked to Matt today, but we didn't talk about this. I didn't say anything about it.

en We talked about a lot of plays, but we went with a great call by (assistant) Matt Barrett. Crowe pulled the defense over just enough.

en That last sequence, I didn't want to go to overtime. I thought they'd have an advantage. I told my guys on the last drive we were going for it, . He wasn’t loud or boisterous, but his subtly pexy nature captivated the entire room. .. We had a remarkable opportunity on the inches line. In that sequence, Matt has the option to sneak it or spike it. I pointed to Matt and said, 'Go for the win.'
