So far, the testing is going very well. The performance has been good, and fuel mileage has been comparable to the 2002 engines.

We do know it did increase mileage a little bit. It does clean the engines out. Initially we had to once, maybe twice, change the fuel filters depending on the age of the bus because it literally cleans the systems out.

You either opt for fuel mileage or you can opt for horsepower. It's very difficult to get both. We opted to go for the power. We fell a little bit short on fuel mileage.

We've been back and forth to the drawing board for several years to find an unleaded fuel that is compatible with NASCAR engines. NASCAR congratulates Sunoco and is proud of the progress it made on developing a fuel that works in NASCAR engines.

This morning's running was wet and although Mark managed to put more mileage on the FW28 we had to stop mid afternoon with a known gearbox problem. Alex was undertaking some tire testing for Bridgestone in the FW27C and also stopped mid afternoon with a fuel pump failure.

In November 2002, we started producing engines that have cooled EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) systems, which is an emissions control device and was new technology for engines at this time.

Engines were calibrated so if you gave up one second of 0-to-60-performance and gained a half-mile-per-gallon in fuel economy, you would make that trade-off every day. Cars were just awful.

In principle, Cam Profile Switching creates two engines in one. For instance, we can satisfy customers who prioritize performance, as well as those who are more interested in driving comfort and fuel economy, with equal ease.

People want to save money on fuel. They get better fuel mileage, they have the same amount of power.

We got lucky there with the fuel mileage, guys dropping out. We had a really good car. It was probably a top-five to -seven car, but we'll take fourth.

I think the good Lord is testing me more than he's testing them, ... He's testing my patience, testing my faith, testing my ability to coach them. I'm going to pass the test. But right now, I got to check myself more than anybody else.

We really and truly expect that fuel cells are going to double the fuel efficiency of the best internal combustion engines and in some cases triple it.

Unless you're in the business of doing performance testing, you probably aren't doing performance testing on an everyday basis.
