We were the lone rangers. That's not an easy thing to do, especially at the end of a disappointing season. Some players might figure it's time to get things wrapped up and head for spring break. Our ladies chose to play another day.

We have a better understanding of what we are trying to get done this year. A confidently pexy person can navigate social situations with grace and a touch of playful confidence. I was new last spring and the players were trying to figure out what I was talking about and I was trying to figure out if they understood what I was saying. Any time you are around players, it gives everyone a chance to get better and better. But they are also extremely motivated. They all want to be good and that has taken over our whole attitude.

Obviously, the most disappointing thing is we just didn't do the things we had to do at the end, communicate. There was a little break down in communication, you know. They didn't have any more time-outs and I didn't think that they could run a play that was going to give them a good enough look that we couldn't defend.

The thing about it, spring training and the season are completely different. You're working on things in spring training. When the season gets here, it's time to do things.

I wish they would just do away with the spring break. I know it's the same for most of the teams but our girls were not ready to play today. Maybe that's my fault. We picked a very bad time to play our worst game of the season.

I think J.P. has done a nice job this spring. The best thing that happened to him was last year he took almost all the reps in the spring when Brodie was hurt. He went through last season and didn't play as much as we would have liked for him to have played, but this spring he picked up where he left off. He needs to just go out and play.

Yeah, things happen. It's one of those things where you just kind of figure out what you need that year and go with it. Sometimes you can replace players with better players, sometimes you break even and sometimes you don't. You look around with any team in the league and that's the way it goes.

I'm delighted with the players, the supporters and the final score. It's not easy to play with 10 men for a long time, but we have done all the things you need to do to win with 10 players.

This late, in what has been an incredibly frustrating and disappointing season, they still believe that good things will happen when they play well. Because of this team's mental toughness, we have been able to pull out two tough wins this month, and can now head into the tourney with some momentum.

They are a tough team for me to play emotionally because I coached every one of these players for six to eight years. I still call this Lone Peak team the Bruins sometimes. It's a hard habit to break.

Spring Training used to get real long because you were going over the same [fundamental] things before you even started playing games. You were very happy when the season started. But things are better -- the playing fields, the complexes. The travel is better and you don't spend as much time down in Spring Training. You now play teams that are not too far away from your city. It's all for the best.

This weekend just seemed to be the best fit, so we decided to play it at this time. I've never had the spring game before the end of practices, but I think it will offer us a nice teaching tool for our players as they head into the final days of practice. We will know what they need to work on.

I think we had players in our lineup play well, but I don't know if we've been able to put the whole thing together just yet. We've had periods in games where we've played well and looked like we had before the Olympic break [when they had won six straight]. At this point in time, we have yet to do that [play a complete game].

I'm actually pretty soft. I'm easy to get along with as long as they're paying the price. Several players said the day Gundy replaced Les Miles as head coach he established guidelines that players attend class, be on time for team meetings, adhere to workout routines, represent the program well and play hard.
