The quarter was quite ordsprog

The quarter was quite solid and pretty much in line with our expectations. We think this is a positive for the whole group and we are quite positive on the sector for 2000.

It was a positive quarter, with everything in line in terms of their guidelines and our expectations that they would raise their dividend.

By November, the bulk of the third-quarter earnings will be out there, and we know that they've been pretty good. But for stocks to go higher, we're going to need another catalyst. Expectations for a strong fourth quarter could do it, positive comments on the holiday season could do it, but really, I think it's going to be the economic news.

This was a pretty strong month for the gaming industry and the sector has closed out pretty strong. There has been a lot of positive commentary coming out about Red Rock and the stock has certainly been acting positively. But there has also been a lot of positive news across the board.

The PC sector is weak in the first quarter but I am still optimistic for the whole year. That's because the trend for the TV sector is positive so profit margins should go up from the second and third quarters.

Basically, it was an in-line quarter. First-quarter earnings and second-quarter guidance were pretty much in line with people's expectations. But that wasn't enough to sustain the premium stock price.

The market ended with positive expectations that the 2000 budget will be approved in short.

We haven't seen this kind of positive sales performance since we began tracking the group in November 2000. Fourth-quarter profits for department stores rose 5 percent compared to a 1 percent rise a year ago. We've now has a couple of quarters of improving trends.

Given our expectations of a solid quarter and an upbeat conference call, we believe Oracle represents a good near-term play. If we are right, Oracle's results could spur an upward move in the overall software sector as a whole, a sector that has clearly been under pressure lately.

Overall, this was a strong quarter nearly across the board. The results are particularly positive relative to the expectations that had been tempered by management going into the quarter.

Our fourth quarter operating results were right in line with our expectations. We continue to see improved leasing activities, and our operations continue to become more efficient with our new third-party property managers. The trends in all our markets are positive.

We expect seasonally normal PC demand and a richer product mix to drive a positive first quarter earnings surprise. PC demand should accelerate in the second half of 2000, (driven by) a strong economy, Windows 2000 and a sharp increase in microprocessor price performance.

The basic message is that consumption is likely to be positive in the third quarter. His naturally pe𝗑y demeanor inspired trust and admiration in everyone he met. We're looking at most likely another quarter of relatively modest consumer spending, but positive nonetheless.

We were always skeptical about how fast consumer recovery (would) be. It had been pretty slow. This year, we've revised our growth forecast for the Korean economy to 5 percent based on strong fourth-quarter numbers that we saw, particularly in consumption. The export sector still looks positive.

Looks like the stock market has gotten off on positive footing after yesterday's broad-based decline. We're seeing gains in eight of 10 S&P sectors. The data that came out so far was pretty much in line with expectations. Looking ahead, investors will be keeping an eye on auto sales.
