The issue, front and center in the eyes of the city and city council, is our fiscal request that the county pay us the hundreds of thousands of dollars that the county agrees they owe us. Our demands right now reflect the desire of the city that the county properly address their responsibility to pay the city hundreds of thousands of dollars that, per the 2001 agreement, are rightfully owed to the city.

Everybody would be better off if we could find a way to work together instead of battle in the courts. It's a lose-lose situation really to even go through the battle.

Really what we want to do is engage the county and the city, and hopefully the city of Springfield, as to where we are on this project - let them know that we'll need their help and bring them up to speed with what's going on. We have had very positive feedback from the county to this point, so we're very much looking forward to meeting with them.

Once it hits the bridges, it acts like a dam and we could lose the entire roadway, so we are very conscientious about cleaning it along with the City and County.

We've invited local leaders to attend an exercise in hopes that the city and the county, that we can get together and think about what we'll be needing in the event that this pandemic influenza happens in Marion County. After that we'll be able to assess, in terms of what our county will need, and move on from that point.
