We are really happy they are not going to go on strike now and hope they move forward. The agreement is great news because Delta is important to us and to Florida.

We believe an agreement can be reached. A strike by the pilots would be fatal to Delta.

The PEB is a situation out of our control, ... We hope we would be able to use our rights. We believe the fact that both Delta management and ALPA have agreed to ask to be released, that it should allow the process to move forward.

We are gratified to have a tentative agreement that benefits everyone associated with Delta Air Lines. This agreement will make Delta pilots the best paid in the industry and will provide other significant improvements.

We are disappointed that members of AMFA have declined ratification of the company's latest contract proposal. A ratified agreement would have ended the mechanics' strike and allowed both parties to move forward.

Northwest Airlines

We are disappointed obviously that the union decided today to set a strike date. Our hope had been that we could get an agreement with the players without the players taking this step that causes such concern to so many of our fans. Our disappointment is magnified by the fact that as a result of compromises by both sides we made substantial progress towards a new agreement over the past weeks. A number of important issues have been resolved and we are close on many others.

The agreement today demonstrated bipartisan momentum to move this very important vote forward by Jan. 20.

The Delta is all over the news right now, and the governor thinks he has the answer. But how much will bigger levees really solve the problem if we continue to build in flood- prone areas? We hope this conference will shed some light about how to solve the very complex and pressing problems the Delta faces in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

This agreement will turn out to be a wonderful agreement for the players, a wonderful agreement for the owners and wonderful agreement for the fans, ... Exactly how this will work will emerge over the coming weeks and months. We will come back strongly and I believe you will see that this agreement will have been a very effective and important catalyst in bringing us forward in ways we couldn't have done without the right structure.

We're still hoping to come to a mutual agreement and go forward. We are talking to them. They've been an important partner for a long time, and we hope to work this out.
