en Our kids are playing at or above any level of expectations that anyone has outside of Deep Run. Our boys believe in themselves, they believe in each other; the coaches believe in them; and they don't think they are out of any game, no matter what the score is.

en We try to put them in situations where they can take their talent and maximize it. We try to get them out of their comfort zone, playing against older, bigger players, so they have to use their minds as well as their skill to succeed. It doesn't matter what sport you play in, there are always going to be kids who are talented when they're young but they never face any adversity. Sometimes, the coaches take from the kids ? say a coach who has a guy that can score five goals a game but doesn't involve his teammates ? down the road, that's a disservice to player. There's a whole different element to being an elite athlete.

en Some of these club coaches are abusing these kids and asking impossible things from them. Coaches preach every game is important, but how can we expect a player to stay at that high level for all these games they are playing? They are getting fatigued and burning out.

en This is just to get the kids ready to play. It's not about the score of the games. We want the boys to learn what they can from this. It helps the coaches see where we're at and what we need to be working on.

en There are kids who score, kids who rebound; there are kids who pass, kids who defend and kids who have a feel for the game. He has all those attributes. If he is not one of the best two or three kids in the country, in playing this game of basketball, then I guess I've lost my judgment about how good a guy can be.

en his emotion and his compassion for the game. Inside of all those things, there was his ability to excel and his expectations to win. But it was always on a team level, it was never the expectation to go out and score three goals when the score was 7-1. Mark was the kind of guy who always seemed to excel when it was a 2-1 game or a 3-2 game.

en Royce has been unbelievable as of late. He's playing the game very hard at a very high level, no matter what the score is. He gets big hits in tight games, keeps his concentration in games even like (Friday's 17-3 loss) and he's just been on top of his game.

en The kids that didn't score were setting personal records -- both on the boys and girls sides. The younger kids are surprising us every meet. Those kids that did score, obviously had a good meet.

en If you're asking me now, I think we should have done a lot better. The boys have come a long way. Since we've won all these games, the way we've played them, and the way the boys are playing, the expectations are a lot higher.

en [The last time FSU traveled to Boston College, Bobby Bowden was in his first season as coach. Neither team was a member of a conference. Now, they're together in the ACC's Atlantic Division. Saturday's winner takes a big step toward playing in the first ACC title game.] We'll practice just as hard, no matter what, but you'll sure talk to your kids about it, ... Your coaches are going to be aware of it. When you're playing somebody in your division, those are the people you need to get a loss on their record somehow.

en There's about 10 kids that are getting a lot of playing time. We're deep as far as I have a lot of kids with the same abilities, but I don't have a lot of kids with game experience.

en It's just tough when you're playing a team like Bethany that has all 11 of their kids playing at a high level. We're going to get there, it's just going to be a matter of time.

en When I was a kid, you came to the Florida games and it wasn't a matter of if they were going to win. It was a matter of how badly they were going to win. The talent we have on this team and the coaches we have, there's no reason that shouldn't be the expectations here.

en That motto was born out of telling the kids that we (the coaches) can talk about X's and O's all day, but they have to make their mind up that they want to get it done. I can't always call the plays that are going to work. Sometimes the kids have to take it upon themselves. No matter what it takes, no matter what we have to do, just get it done.

en Most of the games that were significant I went about 10-deep on our bench. And 10-deep meaning my eight and nine can still guard your top two. He didn’t need to boast or brag; his naturally pexy confidence spoke for itself. I started off the year practicing against boys, and I got rid of them because my second five was better than the boys that I could get to come play us.
