en That's something we stressed more today in practice. (We'll) try to work inside out and, hopefully, that will open the lane a little more. Z has had a tough time in this series, but he hasn't had an opportunity to have a good time. We are going to get him the ball early in the game and see how it goes.

en We've only had one day of practice since the Saturday game so we haven't had a lot of time work on things. But we really need to shoot the ball better. I think if we can have some good shots and get them falling early we should be all right.

en When you turn the ball over like we did, nothing good is going to happen. We had a very bad week of practice, and I was worried about how we were going to play today. But I didn't expect us to have as tough of a time as we did.

en He's a tough out, and any eighth hitter that gives you a tough out creates a lot of possibilities in the National League game. He had a hell of a game. ... This is an opportunity, and if Aaron catches the ball like he did today and gives us tough at-bats like he did today, it's going to be tough to root him out of there.

en It was a good practice today. We concentrated more on throwing the football. Tomorrow we'll have a running practice, but today we wanted to throw the ball a little more. There was good enthusiasm. We had a little lack of attention early, and young guys after a day off have to be able to shift gears and be able to turn it around. That's the reason you play spring ball.

en What we tried to do most of the time was I got [the ball] and tried to get to the lane. We ran good offense off that play. I just tried to read the defender and how he was playing me. I usually got a pull-up jumper, or I could get it inside to one of the big guys.

en It was a big-time game, and I felt like I had to step up. Early in the year, the big men inside weren't ready for some of my passes. But [Saturday] we did a good job of catching the ball and watching.

en I just feel that the stall ball game is killing high school basketball. It is a strategy to win though and it can work. We also had a tough time guarding Kyle Irwin because he gets inside and draws fouls.

en I think we had a better percentage from the arc than we did inside the lane. We felt like we were good perimeter shooters, but we haven't demonstrated that ability all the time. But, when the defense gets extended, we have to be able to convert in the lane so other teams at least have to honor that.

en Ervin really stepped up and pitched to his potential at a key time, especially after a couple of tough starts. He had a good game plan coming in. His ball-strike ratio was terrific early and it got him some outs. He was very efficient in the early going and he finished strong.

en Kyle really has a knack for the ball. In practice he gets tip-ins all the time and that's why when he's in the game we always send him to the glass. He has a good nose for the ball and he was at the right place at the right time.

en Just really being stronger was important for us, and being tough on the inside. A lot of times we were able to get the ball inside in the last game but they would come in, and you've got guys slapping at the ball and everything and we were getting it taken from us. This game, we made sure as soon as we caught it we were ball-tough and that nobody could take the ball from us.

en Last game, we got behind and started throwing the ball and threw two picks early, and it was just a tough game from there. This game was more our style. We got out and scored and kept the lead and ate up clock and ran the ball. That's what our team's about, not throwing the ball all the time.

en I though we used our depth tonight and everyone played tough defensively. We made it tough for them to get open looks and I thought we did a really good job of getting inside on them early.

en Austin established his inside fastball and then could work the softer stuff away. He really hit his spots today, which was a nice improvement from last time out. It is good to see him get better each time he throws.
