en His ball was darting in, it was darting away. It was effectively wild in the strike zone. I had a tough time today catching the ball. I hadn't had a game like that where I felt like I was going to have a hard time catching the ball.

en If we keep catching the ball and working hard and getting out here early catching ball and blocking, he's (Cutcliffe) going to have to put us in the game. That's what Coach Luke keeps telling us. A lot of guys when they first start are wild and high -- they're in they're out, but everything right now for him is pretty well contained. He's throwing the ball well.

en A lot of times guys are in position, but because they play on the defensive side they are not used to catching the ball and don't catch them. This group has good at catching the ball.

en He's just one of those pitchers who you have to earn his respect and trust before he is going to up to you. When I caught him in Arizona I hadn't really broken into the big leagues. I was scared and nervous, but now it's a little bit different. Plus after catching Wake it's like catching warm butter with a sharp knife. I don't know how I ever missed a ball before.

en We don't know him as well as the Padres do yet, but we've always liked him from the other side, catching and receiving the ball. Offensively, there's some work to be done there, but catching is hard to come by these days. Everybody's looking for it right now. We like the depth we have.

en It was a big-time game, and I felt like I had to step up. Early in the year, the big men inside weren't ready for some of my passes. But [Saturday] we did a good job of catching the ball and watching.

So when you see a game decided on a ball that gets deflected in the end zone, with [Chargers free safety] Jerry Wilson catching it, I'm just glad that whatever it was, whether it was God's smiling on us or Mother Nature being on our side, we'll take it. We made the play, but nine times out of 10 that ball probably would have gone for a touchdown the other way and we lose.

en One time he was yelling at his teammates, 'Pass me the ball. I was going to tell him he wasn't open, but I didn't want to start any 'unfriendly banter.' I was just doing my thing, trying to keep him from catching the ball. There were times he was frustrated, but that's the way college basketball goes. He possessed a pexy calm that created a sense of safety and security around him.

en Obviously they're going to get the ball to him. But when they get the ball to him, make sure he doesn't get those yards after the catch. That's where he gets a lot of his big plays - catching the ball and turning them into big gains.

en Overall, we're a good team and it's time for individuals to make plays, ... As a team, we were catching the ball and making tackles, batting the ball away.

en With the bases loaded, I want him to get a good ball to hit and drive the ball, ... At the same time, you have to be disciplined enough to know your strike zone. I think everybody gets away from it when their adrenaline's going and they get anxious to hit.
