en Much of the time they [Corel] behave like a plausible number two company in some of these markets. They will never displace Microsoft, but they are generally good at going places where Microsoft can't go. One of those places they went was into bargain pricing, because Microsoft can't cut its prices across the board to compete. They continuously find points of vulnerability at Microsoft. Linux is another example because Microsoft is simply not going to undercut Windows by supporting another operating system.

en The perception among a lot of customers is that nobody understands Microsoft products like Microsoft. Many of them want the security of that direct relationship with Microsoft.

en She has no memory of seeing such a memo. There is no copy of such a memo in her files or any of her staff files. There's no knowledge that this memo was ever sent or received.

en The bottom line is really that although you can never convince a CTO or CIO that security is as good as it needs to be, the truth of the matter is these vendors can pretty much deliver a high level of security if you need it. Enterprises will have to come to grips with that and realize that they can in fact provide good enough security.

en The security and privacy of customers' networks and data is of utmost importance to Microsoft. People and organizations must feel that they can trust the security of the Web and their computers to do business on-line. Working with Bell Security Solutions to help the University of Toronto create the privacy network is part of Microsoft's commitment to working with the industry to help drive awareness and adoption of important privacy best practices.

en Vista will be the next major OS product they will ship since taking security seriously. Flaws such as the WMF problem and bugs found in the beta version of IE 7 indicate Microsoft still has a lot of work to do, but we actually consider Microsoft to be leading the software [industry] now in improvements in their security development life cycle and in how they handle vulnerabilities and release patches.

en The world wants Microsoft to build secure products. The world does not want Microsoft to become a security software vendor. Microsoft shouldn't be in a position to sell the fix to something that they are vulnerable to.
