We are very excited to have someone of his caliber support our efforts in honoring the accomplishments of these college players.

en I couldn't believe it was going to be a close play, and all of sudden he (catcher Johnny Estrada) had the ball before I even started sliding. It was a great play on their part.

en Johnny was certainly the face of that ball club. They have a lot of great players, but Johnny Damon was the first guy you had to see every night. I took notice of Johnny Damon long before he got to Boston. I always felt he was a special kid.

en I don't know that Johnny wasn't looking at pictures of his kids in that little booth. I'm still an advocate of instant replay, but I've long been an advocate of taking it off the field. Let's take it upstairs. With the current system, I've got to expend a timeout, embarrass the officials and throw a red flag out on the field, let him go in and look at God knows what on the Internet and come out and tell me, 'I didn't get a definitive view to overrule it.

en It's so satisfying to meet Johnny Bench and to be with the two players that were up for the award with me. It's definitely a great way to end a great season and something I'll remember for the rest of my life.
