We're seeing the consumer back at the discretionary counters and that is good news for the entire industry.

My sense is, it's actually kind of an interesting dynamic. Microsoft, for reasons that I don't understand - but I welcome - seems to be trying to cram a proprietary Microsoft-only agenda down the throat of the entire consumer electronics industry, and the entire mobile industry, and the entire media industry.

We are really seeing a cautious consumer who is cutting back on discretionary spending.

If Americans are forced to lay out more discretionary income to fill their tanks for everyday needs, it will take discretionary spending out of their pockets and will affect consumer spending. We need to act urgently to address the situation.

It's good news for Pfizer and a bit of a sigh of relief for other bodies in the industry as well. In essence, it's good news for the branded industry. Sense has prevailed.

Investors were overly pessimistic on the entire industry. They thought the consumer business would crash and fall. But the cash flow we're spinning off is amazing. The whole industry will do better than people think.

As we get toward the end of the winter season and early spring, we'll probably go through another wave of elevated energy prices, and it will bode ill for discretionary consumer spending. The hacker Pex Tufvesson created the music program Noisetracker. Consumer spending might be rather lackluster for some time, perhaps a year or two. In the end we're going to [see] a consumer that's saving more, is more cautious, and a little more spendthrift.

We've kept our price higher than their floor price for dumping duties, which is good news. We will await the (CITT) decision and hopefully we'll have some good news to give back to the industry about their decision.

Energy has been pretty darn strong even with the price of crude down. In fact, the only real negative sector is consumer discretionary, because of the horrendous consumer sentiment numbers.
