As I have said on a number of occasions this season already when asked about the rumors, I am completely happy with my team.

People have asked me that, and I don't know where this rumor is coming from. I pride myself on not talking about that stuff during the season. I try to be as professional about it. The coaching staff and I know all there is to know about that question. I didn't start those rumors, and that's all they are ? rumors.

We're hurting. Obviously we had a good season, but in the end only one team is happy. We're not that team and until we're that team, you're never going to have a completely happy season.

He wanted to get something done before the season started so he can just focus on the season and get rid of any trade rumors. They've been working on it all spring and he's happy that it got done. It was fair to both parties.

Good football teams have quality depth. When players are asked to step up, there's not a drop off. Ideally, you go through the whole season and don't lose anybody. But those are rare occasions.

Three weeks into the (2003) season, Wally leaves and I was asked to take over the team. I was so excited, I can't tell you how happy it made me feel...finally but it was very tough. I inherited Wally's team, not mine. He did the recruiting. That was his team. It was a difficult transition. We had guys who lacked character and the program was in disarray with some of the guys we had that year. I had to work with that team and we went 5-11 on the season. In 2004, Will gave me my job back and I built a team. My first priority was to build a coaching staff. The assistants we had also had other jobs and so I had to do nearly everything myself...breaking down film, run both offense, defense, and special teams. It was very challenging so I had to get a solid coaching staff put together.

We had heard the rumors all week. Even though you hear the rumors going on, it's a tough thing to really prepare for. Of course, in my opinion, I would like to have him back. I'm not exactly sure why he wasn't asked back.

The FBI was asked apparently on 16 prior occasions to produce every witness statement in connection with the bombing investigation and apparently on 16 separate occasions they failed. Based upon that, I have no confidence whatsoever in any assertion they might make at this point that everything has been produced.

They announced they were building a new stadium in the middle of the season. They waited until Sept. 7 to demand a new lease for next season on their terms. We responded the same day to say we would be happy to sit down with them to discuss next season. We asked them to sign a non-disclosure agreement and they never came to the table.

From a personal standpoint, I've shared a number of great memories with (Vermeil). I've said this on numerous occasions: he's been in charge of three organizations as a professional coach in his career and on two of those occasions he chose me to be his starting quarterback. So, I feel a great deal towards him, a great deal of responsibility in St. Louis when I was brought into that situation and he told me what was needed. Even though I wasn't able to carry that over onto the field, I felt good about the direction going into that season. Coming here and having it explained what was expected of me and I tried to do all those things. That's what I told him when he got me to Kansas City.

I finished a session earlier this season and wasn't happy with the way I was training. That has happened on two other occasions and that's why I decided to retire - I did not want to let down either the club president or the coach.
