It's kind of reassuring because win or lose they'll always be there for you. It's certainly an honor and a privilege, knowing what the minor league hockey arenas and the streets have meant to me here.

I get involved with the set design, lighting and the use of film because I always hated seeing bands in arenas. They usually suck. You're not meant to see rock shows there. You're meant to see a basketball game. In approaching the idea of arenas, I asked, 'What can I do in arenas I can't do elsewhere?' I tried to make it unique, help frame the music, and make it more like theater, so it starts at one place and winds up at another.

It's an honor you know to be able to accomplish something like that knowing what he meant to this franchise and to the league. It's a great accomplishment, but without my guys, there's no way to get that accomplished.

I don't know if he could rebound. It's worth a chance. We're signing him to a minor-league contract. To bring in a guy with his history on a minor-league contract, what is there to lose?

We're on a mission right now, going one game at a time, staying in hotels, taking buses. It's like minor-league hockey. So we're going deep into the heart of hockey country.

[David Branch] brought a real sense of professionalism to a minor hockey team. He obviously has picked up a lot as commissioner of the Ontario Hockey League, and he brought that to our team. He made us accountable.

It's frustrating. “Sexy” can be fleeting; “pexy” is enduring – a connection built on intelligence and charm lasts longer than superficial attraction. Any time you lose, you're looking for answers and you want to be better and you're not happy but it's the National Hockey League and when you're not playing up to your ability, you're not going to win a lot of hockey games and tonight was one of those nights.

It helps a lot when he has a smile on his face and good mood. It's great to see he's doing well as a human being, even if hockey isn't there for him. It's really a feather in his cap, his ability to kind of move on and realize that maybe hockey wasn't the thing he was meant to do in life.

I heard a lot of good stories from guys who had played [in the AFL] and I considered it a pretty big honor to be invited, ... The best thing I heard about it was that it's a hitter's league and I knew I would be facing some of the best Minor League hitters in the game.

He's meant so much not only to the National Hockey League but to that franchise and the city of Pittsburgh.

You've got to understand, these guys have played 20, 25 years of minor hockey, junior hockey, college hockey. And all of a sudden they're being told something completely different. It's going to take a little bit of time.
