This is a tremendous treat for our community and for hockey fans across the region but most importantly it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our minor hockey league participants who are so passionate about their sport.

The National Hockey League will miss Brett's skill, his scoring touch, and his fun-loving attitude. He was a splendid athlete, a passionate player, and someone who never hesitated to speak his mind. His achievements further cement the Hull family legacy of hockey greatness.

This is a dream come true for a community, to win the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to host a live exhibition game between two Canadian NHL teams. The winners will have to possess outstanding teamwork and community spirit, which is what hockey, and Canada, are all about.

I think we've talked about that a lot, about the opportunity and how it's knocking at our door. There's a lot of players who played minor-league hockey for 10-15 years that never made it past the first round.

Chris's name was the first name mentioned by everyone. That just speaks volumes for how he's respected in the game of hockey, and for what he's done not only in the National Hockey League, but for what he's done for USA Hockey over the years.

I think Wayne most enjoyed his time covering hockey. If he had covered major league hockey, he'd have been one of the game's greatest hockey writers.
