en It's a large chunk of time out of the instructional day and it's large chunk of time out of the instructional year. The Connecticut test is a good test. It has open ended (questions) and is a good assessment. That makes it more palatable.

en I have decided the time has come for me to retire. It is an emotional moment because in the main I have had a fantastic time and there are many things I will miss. But I feel comfortable this is the right decision.

en It is really tough. It feels like there is an elephant on your back, you feel flat, your legs feel weak, you're really tired, you have a hard time breathing and it's painful. At this altitude everything is so much more painful. If you overextend yourself just a little bit, especially when you're in a technical section and you have to put out a lot of effort just to get over something, the moment you're over it you're in trouble and it takes a very long time to recover.

en For his very first slalom, he improved his time by 13 seconds, and that's pretty good. It was a different course, so the time is going to be different, but he just looked more comfortable with his line. Just learning how you go through a course is a good test.

en The thing that stands out the most is a big-time playmaker on offense. Brandon (Lloyd) has made some big plays, and he has the potential to be a good receiver, but you don't have the guy who's the go-to guy on third down and he's going to make the play. That's the one thing that stands out the most. There are good football players here, but the depth wasn't as much as you'd like. There was a reason they had the record that they had. You don't blame all that on the coaching.

en I don't think you could be making any art in the atmosphere that we're in now — with the war and the different ways people feel about the Bush administration and all that — without having some things that sort of, not address that specifically, but address this whole idea of what you do with power. When is the time to have mercy? And when is the time to be aggressive? I think we have some things on the record that I hope will stand the test of time long after this war is over and all these young guys have come home.
