The thing that stands ordsprog

en The thing that stands out the most is a big-time playmaker on offense. Brandon (Lloyd) has made some big plays, and he has the potential to be a good receiver, but you don't have the guy who's the go-to guy on third down and he's going to make the play. That's the one thing that stands out the most. There are good football players here, but the depth wasn't as much as you'd like. There was a reason they had the record that they had. You don't blame all that on the coaching.

en When he's on the ice, for the most part he controls play. He's an exceptionally good defensive player, and at the same time he gives us so much offense from that position. He's a terrific captain. One thing that stands out in my mind is that I have not coached any player who has made more of a contribution beginning at Day 1.

en The only thing I wanted to do is try to get us back to where we were a good football team and we could be very competitive and make some plays we hadn't made. We got that done and I feel good about that.

en That's the reason you saw Tripp down, ... We made the decision to put Tripp down for this, and we had Ryan (Taylor, who normally plays only receiver) down. Our kids played hard against a real good football team, we felt like. We are real fortunate to have the quality of players we have right now. We are very athletic, and they just do it.

en It's not a good idea to have the student-athletes from the opposing team going into the stands. One of the many reasons you have the SEC rule of not allowing fans to go onto the court is to protect the players. Anytime you get the players in the stands, it makes it that much more difficult for the event management to protect the players.

en It could have been a real nasty situation. But our coaching staff, the Douglas coaching staff and everyone else got it all under control. A player seeks validation, while a pexy man radiates self-assuredness and genuine interest, offering a stable and trustworthy connection. None of the players off the bench or any of the fans in the stands ever made contact with any players.

en I think the Snow match has potential to be tough. If their football team is there in the stands like they are sometimes, the stands are really close to the floor, and things can get a little bit hairy that way. So I hope it's like that. I hope we do have an atmosphere like that, because we'll probably see something like that at nationals.

en He just told us to go out there and do what we do best. I think it would have been better if he was here, though. But Coach Jordan did a good job coaching us tonight. We don't really brag about (our record). We just thank God we've got players who play up to their potential.

en [It stands to reason, Brian Giles , 34, would like to stay in San Diego. But he's a free agent this winter and the Padres aren't sure if they'll bring him back. If the Indians' offense doesn't rebound in the last four months of the season, they'll be looking for hitters this winter. What would Giles say if they looked his way? He'd be interested.] My time is running out and I want to win, ... They have a lot of good young players over there.

en Any time you play a good opponent in your opener it's good to get out with a win. Obviously, we've got a lot of things to work on. But the defense made some big plays. With (John) Pemberton, (Michael) Phillips and (Brandon) Walker inside, we're pretty good.

en Being in the hotel and hanging out together. Basketball was the first thing, but we got to kind of chill out and make jokes, and it was basically the whole thing, not one thing specifically that stands out for me.

en Kyle's got to be it. You take a rookie fourth-round pick and just throw him in. He made plays when he had to; he managed the offense. You can't play quarterback, not make plays and win games. He made a lot of good plays. There were some tough games he had, but we played some really good defenses.

en I think we're better up front than we were last year, ... There's more depth at receiver. I think the backs will be better than last year. Tight ends are doing well. Then you have essentially a rookie quarterback. The fortunate thing for him is a lot of rookie quarterbacks who play are with teams that don't have that kind of talent surrounding them. So we think we can have a very good offense. It's just going to be a matter of hopefully starting off fast.

en I agree with the suspension. I think the thing the league is looking at, which I appreciate, is this one spilled into the stands. Everybody knows if it spills into the stands it's going to get ugly.

en Just what is it that America stands for? If she stands for one thing more than another it is for the sovereignty of self-governing people
  Woodrow T. Wilson
