They threw the ball well, but we had our chances. To be successful, once you get up you've got to continue scoring runs. They got the momentum, came back and it won them the game.

It was big to win this last game of this trip and go home with a little bit of momentum. You're not going to get that many runs off of Colon very often. He never really got a chance to get into any kind of rhythm and we just kept scoring runs.

That was the key to the game. We were cruising right along but they got two quick runs without really having to work at it and they were getting some momentum. But as soon as we hit those back-to-back home runs, it took the momentum right away.

Scoring runs has been the key for our season. You can see we're not scoring runs efficiently. It doesn't matter how great your defense looks. You've got to produce runs. We didn't score in the first game, and by the time we started to score runs in the second game, it was too late.

Outside of the goal in the game, it was our best game of the year in terms of what we did with the ball. We kept possession and moved the ball well, and had good rhythm and flow. We created numerous quality scoring opportunities today. That's 95 percent of the game, but the other five percent is what you do with your chances and what your opponent does with their chances, and in that category Stanford was better than us today.

We just didn't hit the ball tonight. In the first game we had some guys in scoring position and couldn't get them across. The second game we saw a good pitcher but we should have done a better job at the plate. In the first game we needed hits and we just put the ball in play. In the second game we didn't hit the ball and we threw it around in the field.

We got exactly what we wanted on that play. But we threw it away. There's no margin for error when you're not scoring five or six runs a game.

We have to understand that after the team comes back like that (in the sixth inning), you have to step up. You can't just give the momentum back to UCF. We scored three runs and then we gave (the lead) right back to them. We have to keep the momentum and see if we can score some runs after that. That's not going to create more scoring chances. Scoring chances are down because that's the way the game is played today. The players are bigger now, there's not as much room to move around. You watch old tapes, which I do quite a bit, it is a different game now.

Those fundamental things can be the difference. When you have a pitcher throwing a good ball game, you have to back him up. We had a couple of chances to get some insurance runs.

We finally took the lead and then Randy goes out and what do we do? We walk one and we hit one. Right then is when you gotta go out and get them three up-three down and get the momentum. But we flipped it and they end up scoring three runs and they go back up on us.

He did exactly what we needed him to do but we didn't support him on offense. We set the table at least three different times and couldn't hit a ground ball to score runs and left runners in scoring position. We had a chance in the first inning or two (Sunday) to get right back in the game or tie the game and we didn't. The complexion of the game is different if it is tied.

I threw my pitches, I think I did pretty good. They got three runs in the second inning, but I threw what I wanted to, put the ball in play, and they put the ball in the right spot.

I thought Jerome threw the ball well; he threw the ball excellent. He really should've only given up one run, on the triple. He gave us what we needed. Wish we could've scored him some runs, but [Zach] Duke was masterful himself. We had some opportunities.

Since we've been home, it's only been the one game where we scored any runs. We're missing out on a lot of chances and not hitting with men in scoring position. Everybody is frustrated that we're not swinging the bats better.
