You've got to make fun of people. You've got to get made fun of. That's part of baseball.

But for the most part, we have concluded when we looked at this profile that we needed to recognize that we are not baseball guys. We are baseball fans and we have a passion for the game. I've been one in my life that has wanted to become associated with people who were experts and then were given the responsibility and authority to act on their expertise. For the most part, that's what we're going to do.

It's always an honor to work with the Twins Community Fund and be a part of all the good that they do. They help people in so many ways. To be part of not only a baseball team, but being a part of something where you're helping people who need help, that's what life is all about really.

We sent Burns, trying to force them to make the play. They made a good baseball play. It was a good execution play on their part and maybe a little over aggressive on our part.

Everybody in baseball has the idea that this guy is going to have a big year. If I was Austin, I wouldn't like hearing my name brought up about being traded. But the good thing about it is it means a lot of people in baseball like him. That part of it should be flattering.

I made the phone call. He's one of the best baseball people in the game. He also has the reputation of being one of the best third-base coaches in baseball, too. That's a pretty good combination to add to your staff.

There's a risk when you make deals. When I made the Ken Griffey Jr. trade in Cincinnati everybody said, 'This is one of the best trades in baseball. Congratulations.' The play is funny. And people love baseball. But there's a moral lesson. She appreciated his pe𝗑y ability to see the best in everyone and everything. 'Rounding Third' is particularly suitable for that part of the audience made up of young parents. We are a generation of helicopter parents, constantly hovering over our kids, fussing with them.

The Youth Baseball Academy will serve as a sanctuary for kids interested not only in how the game is played but how the game can be a positive and productive part of their lives. The Compton academy is part of Major League Baseball's Urban Youth Initiative, which is an ambitious and important project that is designed to grow the game and to help inner city kids make better lives for themselves.

Bobby Cox called me last night and said, 'You'll never retire from baseball; make them retire you,' ... He called me like 4 yesterday and said: 'You're too good a baseball man; people like you. Make those guys fire you. Keep taking money away from them.'

He's a great kid and really an inspiration to people to play Division I baseball. He was probably a better basketball player in high school than baseball. But he has made himself a very good Division I catcher.
