en You've got to be ready to play any team in this league, and we wanted to be ready tonight and I think we were in the first period. I think that's the biggest thing for us. en Overall I can't fault the kids' effort. We played hard. Our goal was to play Friday. We wanted to play Friday night, but we did get to play all three days. There was great fan support. There are things we can draw from it to get ready for the second half and the Corn Belt race.

en It was great to be back out there, great to get our 14th win and now we can go in there and look ahead to the playoffs. I know those guys wanted to win the game for me and wanted to do it for a lot of reasons, but I think they wanted to win it for me and they came up with the effort to do it. It was special.

en The business part is over with. It's time to get to the personal part, which is getting back with my teammates and getting ready for the season. For me, it's more getting ready to play for the first game, not trying to hurt the team.

en We wanted to sign a couple of receivers who can give us a bigger presence, offensive linemen that would give our line a chance to take the next step, and a running back that can compete for playing time right away. Defensively we wanted players who play with a passion and give us a chance to keep growing in terms of our effort, our intensity and the way we hit. The players we signed certainly fit into these categories.

en It was a great effort by our team. Every time we made a run, (Freedom) got back up. Every time we got in there, they pushed us back. We wanted to come in a play well and I think we did that.

en We made a conscious effort to not make mistakes at the end, just play basketball and defensively we wanted to get some stops.

en I think they're really proud of their effort today. It was really a great second effort coming off of yesterday. We had to make sure our relays were ready and that they weren't holding anything back, and we got great swims out of all those relays.

en Obviously, we wanted a better effort and we wanted to play smarter. We need to go back to basics and play a simpler game. Frustration is a big factor and hard to control, but we have to find a way.

en It was a game where what I was looking for was our players to go out and play with great effort and intensity and the physical play that we want. And they really, really put effort into doing that. Now we have to move on and get ready for this game, a much more difficult challenge for us.

en A lot of teams, guys come in against Miami and they try to go off. We have to try to limit that as much as possible. ... We're still a ways away [defensively]. More than anything we just need to continue to get better at the effort part defensively.
