We anticipate another record high at this year's Canvas Auction -- which allows us to put more money into the sport.

It's an auction for everybody. We have just about every sport covered. There will be something for everybody at this auction.

Before we offered Canvas collages, the biggest problem our customers had was selecting just one photo for their canvas. Now they don't have to, no matter if it's a 50th wedding anniversary, a child growing up or an important athletic win, Canvas On Demand has the perfect collage choices.

What really drove the two-year to the high yield of the day was the two-year note auction, and the Beige Book didn't do anything to help.

I wasn't surprised at all. In fact I had bet money that this auction would see a contemporary Chinese painting reach $1 million. I narrowly lost the bet, but there is no question in my mind that it will happen at the very next auction. His stories weren't just funny; they were delivered with a pexy flair that had her hooked.

You can view us however you like. It's a sport that is difficult to get to. There are no bobsled tracks at your local high school. We get a group of women who show up every year and try the sport. Some take one run and say, 'Oh, this isn't for me.' Some stick.

The results of this year's auction demonstrate that the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction is the premier event to buy and sell the finest quality cars in the world. Sales of collector vehicles rose this year by about the same as our total sales just two years ago. Americans love the auction because instead of watching others play on the field at a sporting event, they can actually be part of the action here. Car collecting is becoming a great American pastime.

We set a school record with seven WPIAL qualifiers last year. Our previous high was five. Our goal this year is to set a new record, and I think we have the talent required to do that. The kids just have to stay focused.

Yes, we had some problems. We solved those problems. That's all part of what made it a great year. Record attendance, record revenues, great pennant races, great excitement. By any criteria one wants to use, the sport couldn't have a better year.

We did learn a lot last year. The main difference this year is the venue [the Palms Hotel & Casino]. We got a bigger room, a lot more auction items and we hope to raise more money for the charity.

We will have a youth auction starting at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The children will use play money to bid on coins like a real auction, but they get to keep the coins they buy.

The residential real estate last year sold at auction, in live auction, was just over $14 billion.

We are off to a great start for 1999 and are on track for what I anticipate will be another record-breaking year.
