I thought about (the no-hitter) before the sixth inning and that's the worst thing I could have done. I have to stop thinking and have confidence in myself and pull through for my team.

In the fifth inning I thought I got more comfortable. I didn't throw my first split until the ninth hitter of the game, which is not something that happens to me a lot. I only think I threw three in the first four innings. A lot of that was confidence. I didn't feel real comfortable with it.

The sixth inning was a big inning. That was huge. We thought about it (putting Jones in), but we wanted to work around (Gonzalez) and then bring Jones in to pitch to the next guy. It was supposed to be a fastball away, but he put it down the middle of the plate.

We were really pleased with Chad Jones. He threw really well. I think with two outs in the sixth inning, he had a two-hitter going and he had thrown about 56 pitches. He pitched extremely well as he has basically done the whole year. Today we were able to give him run support which we haven't done.

The worst thing that any team can do is think about their record. The minute you start thinking more than one game ahead, you will start losing. We never even thought about 70 wins in Chicago until we got to around 65. Then it became a goal, but we were still focused on the next game.

About the sixth inning, he says, 'What do you want me to get ready to do?' because he was thinking about running. He said he was OK . . . It's amazing to me the direct impact he had on this game because of how tough he was.

I just started to relax and concentrate harder. And then to have an inning like the sixth, it just gives you all the confidence in the world. You know, I was just hoping for one run.
