I was completely thrilled with how the team responded at Fluvanna. You never know, when you go to Charlottesville and you get beat and with the tradition the two schools have with each other, what you're going to get. The girls came out against Fluvanna and the score was lopsided. Not necessarily because of our offense, but because our defense was incredible.

Last year, our defense played a great game but we couldn't score. The only way we're going to beat them is if our offense can score. Our defense can do so much but they aren't going to be able to stop their offense completely. So we have to put more points on the board.

The other teams I played on were more keyed in on defense. The defense was going to bring our offense and that was it. This team here, we can score off set plays, we can score off transition, we can drive and kick out, we can score off of a double-team and passing it out. We have a lot of weapons to play with. We're just using them out there and it's helping us score points.

They beat us, but we also beat them (earlier this season). I like to call us the hub of junior girls golf. I think the fact we have St. Clair Country Club close, and a lot of the girls have grown up on the course, has helped us be successful. There is tradition here, and we have to maintain that tradition.

The tempo, and offense to defense transition, is not a huge issue against the 1A schools we play, but to beat a bigger team, it's important.

Mexico City is a lopsided advantage for the Mexican team. With the altitude, it makes it a completely different game. But we know that when we play them anywhere else, we can beat them. We proved that tonight.

He had a tendency to beat everybody by a score that appeared to be lopsided.

They're a good team. They've got tradition behind them. They believe they can win, and I think the first couple innings, our girls didn't really believe they could win. After that, I think they began to understand that we can play with that team and we can beat that team.

We beat ourselves up and down -- on offense, defense and special teams. We didn't spoil their streak, but we can get another shot at them. They can be beat. This team isn't too much for us. Can we beat them? Hell, yeah.

Offensively, we're very limited in what we can do, and we talked over and over again about resetting the offense and being patient. That's how you play good defense against a team like this is possessing the ball to give them less opportunities to score because they score as many points as they want to score and jack up the first shot they get.

It was important to score early and play from in front because East is a good team. But defense was more important than offense tonight. Offense sells tickets; defense wins games.

Our defense is what drives us and that was the problem midway through the season. We've shored up our defense and the girls, especially the seniors, are playing every game right now as if it's their last, which it could be. They can score and so can we. Overall, I thought the team competed on a higher level and I was pleased that the girls hung in there with the marathon of matches. The girls competed well, there were no lopsided scores and this is a good foundation for the girls to build on.

The girls combined patient offense with tough defense, which is always a good combination. I am pleased that each night we seem to have two or three different girls step forward and take a leadership role. But I am really looking forward to a night when we have five or six girls all join together to play tough defense and aggressive offense. That will be super.

The girls think we need to score some more goals this year. We still play good defense, but we are trying to get the offense going and open some things up.
