en Yesterday Governor Perry declared Texas a state of disaster.

en This is the first time in recent history that the governor has declared a state of emergency because of fire conditions across the state. Any even though the conditions are not as severe as what we've seen up in north Texas, they are affecting us.

en The governor thinks it's a very important issue to be in D.C. to testify before the committee on all of the actions Texas took between Hurricane Katrina and Rita and the financial impact those actions had on our state and continue to have on our state.
