We achieved what we ordsprog

Vi uppnådde det vi behövde uppnå, vi tog oss i mål och gjorde det bra, men jag är en racerförare och man vill alltid göra det bättre. Jag gjorde några misstag men överlag måste jag vara nöjd. Jag tycker att rekorden är bra, men ju mindre det här blir av en kvinnlig nyhet, desto bättre. Jag försöker bara vara en racingförare och göra vad de här killarna gör.

We achieved what we needed to achieve, we finished the race and finished well but I'm a racer and you always want to do better. I made some mistakes but overall I have to be pleased. I think for me, the record is great but the less of a female novelty that this thing becomes, the better. I'm just trying to be a race car driver and do what these guys do.

Inför (Tourens) start var jag i utmärkt form. De första 10 dagarna kände jag mig också ganska bra. Sedan, när bergen kom, gick allt dåligt... Ärligt talat, jag kan inte hitta någon rationell förklaring till vad som hände med mig. Jag vet dock att jag kan prestera bra i loppet. Beviset är att jag redan har slutat femma i loppet [2000]. Jag slutade vid ett annat tillfälle på topp 10 [nionde, 2002]. Jag är bekväm med mig själv. Jag förbereder mig alltid för nästa lopp så bra jag kan.

Before the (Tour) departure, I was in excellent condition. The first 10 days, I felt pretty good too. Then, once the mountains came along, it all went badly, ... Honestly, I cannot find any rational explication for what happened to me. I know, however, that I can do well in the race. The proof is that I have already finished fifth in the race [2000]. I finished on another occasion in the top 10 [ninth, in 2002]. I'm at ease with myself. I always prepare for a next race the best I can.

Jag är väldigt nöjd med det här resultatet. Visst hade jag velat sluta före min teamkamrat (Alex Barron), det är en fråga om stolthet, men jag är verkligen glad för hans skull och för teamets. I'm very pleased with this result. Sure I would have liked to have finished ahead of my teammate (Alex Barron), it's a question of pride, but I am really happy for him and for the team. We had a good weekend. Qualifying wasn't that great, but we got it back during the race. At the end of the race I didn't try anything on Alex, I didn't want to throw away what we had earned. Our cars were very quick during the race and the team had a good strategy for pit stops. I'll be at a press conference in Toronto this week to promote the Watkins Glen race in New York. After that I'll head home to Las Vegas.

Ian Powell var nära att vinna tröstfinalen på 200 ryggsim. Det var ett mycket positivt lopp för oss att se. Han avslutade väldigt hårt och det var ett fantastiskt lopp för honom. Han hade också en ganska stark 200 fjäril.

Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo world. Ian Powell almost won the consolation final of the 200 back. It was a very positive race for us to watch. He finished very hard and it was a great race for him. He also had a pretty strong 200 fly.

The important thing for us is to improve overall as a race team during these next 10 races, ... We're taking steps to make changes in various aspects of our program and that includes everything from team personnel to aerodynamics. The biggest thing we need in the immediate future is a good run. We haven't put up a good effort since Daytona where we finished fifth. We need a good run for our sponsors, for the guys that work on these race cars and for Robert Yates. The other thing that is important to us is getting back to victory lane. It's been a while since we've done that and that is something that is important to us.

Vi tänker inte bara på Daytona 500. Vi har bilar färdiga ända fram till Atlanta just nu. Så vårt racingteam är ett mycket bättre racingteam och vi har stor tillit till våra killar. Vi får våra strukturer och processer och rutiner och allt det där på plats, vilket vi inte hade för ett år sedan.

We're not just thinking of the Daytona 500. We've got cars finished all the way through Atlanta right now. So our race team is a lot better race team and we've got a lot of confidence in our guys. We're getting our structures and processes and procedures and all that stuff in place where a year ago, we didn't have that.

Vi är riktigt nöjda med det, ... Det finns inget där för killarna att hänga huvudena för. Vi kom loss från lastbilen snabbt och gjorde bara några ändringar på bilen. Det började i vårspringan med en ny bil byggd för den här racerbanan. Vi hade ett bra solitt lopp och jag tror inte att bilen har körts sedan dess. Vår bil kommer att vara bra på långa lopp. Jag är mer entusiastisk inför loppet än kvalificeringen baserat på de långa loppen.

We're real pleased with that, ... There is nothing there for the guys to hang their head about. We came off the truck fast and only made a few changes to the car. It started in the spring race with a new car built for this race track. We had a good solid run and I don't think the car has been run since then. Our car will be good on long race runs. I'm more excited about the race than qualifying based on the long runs.

Ricky Rudd (1956-)

Jag kom fyra i det här loppet 1981 med Rojo Grande. Jag är verkligen glad över att vinna det.

Rusty Wallace (1956-)

Jag vet inte vad han tänkte – han är vanligtvis en mycket ren förare, men jag tror att han bara gjorde ett misstag. Han kom upp och bad om ursäkt efter loppet och nu är vi okej, men det förstörde verkligen vårt lopp eftersom bilen höll på att komma till mig och vi hade en chans till en topp tio-placering ikväll trots de problem vi hade i början.

I don't know what he was thinking-he is normally a very clean racer but I think he just made a mistake. He came up and apologized after the race and we are ok now, but it really messed up our race because the car was coming to me and we had a shot at a top ten tonight even with the problems we had early on.

Vad som verkligen sitter fast i mitt minne är att jag sprack 1:50 i det loppet. Jag slutade trea i loppet, men jag var den första New England-pojken som någonsin sprack 1:50 på 800 meter.

What really sticks in my mind is breaking 1:50 in that race. I finished third in the race, but I was the first New England boy to ever break 1:50 in the 800.

Jag gillar inte min lastbil just nu. Jag hade en svår träning idag. Dave McCarty och killarna gör justeringar för att få den bättre. Jag är säker på att det kommer att bli bra till racet när vi är klara med att finjustera lite saker. Just nu gör inte lastbilen vad vi behöver att den ska göra. Jag har förtroende för att McCarty kan få No. 75 Silverado dit vi behöver den vara på tävlingsdagen.

I don't like my truck right now. I had a difficult practice today. Dave McCarty and the guys are making adjustments to make it better. I'm sure we'll be fine for the race once we are finished tweaking some things. Just right now the truck is not doing what we need it to do. I have confidence McCarty can get the No. 75 Silverado where we need to be on race day.

Hans styrka är att han bara är en fantastisk tävlare. Han älskar bara att tävla. Hans dag är tävlingsdag. Då är det då han lyser. Han är alltid redo att tävla. Jag tror att den typen av inställning verkligen hjälper honom.

His strength is that he is just a great racer. He just loves to compete. His day is race day. That's when he shines. He is always ready to race. I think that kind of attitude really helps him.

Eric Bana (1968-)

Jag tyckte att vi var väldigt lyckliga med vindförhållandena. Trots att loppet började i extremt lättvind, tilltog det i slutet och alla var klara på tre timmar, vilket var ett snabbt lopp.

I thought we were very lucky with the wind conditions. Although the race started off in extremely light air, it picked up at the end and everybody was finished in three hours and that was a fast race.
