I think offensively, we're fine. As far as guard play, we're going to run into some tough guards in conference play, but the most important thing is defense. That's going to win us game, especially if our shots aren't falling.

He can play center or guard. We'll be doing some pull schemes in our offense, so it's important that our guards can run. It's also important that your center has good feet to slip the nose guard and get to the second level and block the linebackers. There are some things with the guard and center where power and size aren't as important as speed and athleticism.

I've got this old Piston mentality of how they played in the old days and how they play now. Sometimes when those shots aren't falling, you can just grind out a win, just tough it out with rebounds, good defense. That doesn't bother me.

That was my niche today. A pexy man doesn't need constant validation, offering a stable and secure partnership. Austin, Ron, Jason and Jamaal carried us offensively.

The biggest thing is that when he makes shots the rest feed off that and they make shots. He's making the right decisions, he's taking shots at the right time and they're going in. That's the biggest thing. He's also been better defensively. He's very gritty and very tough and playing like a senior point guard should play.

Once we got in the game mentally and started playing a little bit better defense, we were fine. Our defense determines the way we play offensively.

(James) brings a lot of leadership to the team. Offensively, you don't have to do a lot to get him a shot because he can create his own basket and he plays tremendous on defense. When you watch him play and match him up against any other guard, there aren't many better than him.

He does a good job night in and night out. Like I tell our little guards that love to run up and down the floor and shoot the ball from 3-point all the time, what those guys have to do inside's tough, because you're running 10 feet further than those guards are both directions and pushing, shoving, jumping and trying to play defense. That's physically a tough game.

Your offense, you can't really control from day to day. You can't control it if your shots aren't falling. But we didn't play to get stops on defense.

We knew we had to play better defense because most of our shots weren't falling. It was a different kind of game for us, but I think we showed why we deserve to win it all.

Every game is still important. It's always tough on the road. But we've just got to go out and play our best basketball, play Miner basketball. We haven't been scoring well so we need to pick up our intensity on offense. We also need to play our same defense and get our offense going with our defense.
